My opinion is on page 6, good deal for Celtic imo if the buy option is confirmed.

I still believe in Jota, but the manager (Jorge Jesus) does not. This particular manager left in 2015 and came back in 2020. Jorge Jesus has many tactical qualities, but has been publicly ridiculed for letting go of Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo, among others. Bernardo Silva has even publicly criticized Jorge Jesus. I believe Jota will benefit from moving to Celtic, he will not play under Jorge Jesus.

I will quote my posts from 2015, regarding Ryan Gauld & Jorge Jesus.

If Jorge Jesus is tactically capable, perhaps Filipe Jota didn't fit into his tactic?

We need a left winger who just crosses with his left foot and runs a lot. Other players control the centre, and so, cutting inside from the wing harms us.

No. Jorge Jesus does not give a chance to youngsters from our academy, nothing more. Our best player (Rafa Silva) even has a similar playstyle (likes to cut inside), so Jota would be the perfect sub for him. Bernardo Silva and João Cancelo are now world elite and did not make the squad with him. Jorge Jesus' prejudice against Benfica academy players is well known. That is why you can find posts from a Benfica fan in a Celtic forum, from 2015 onwards, addressing the matter.

Regardless, Filipe Jota is right-footed, but plays on the left. Today, we failed to score because of a similar setup.

I disagree with that. We need our wingers to be much more than that

Not really. Since full backs help hold up the centre, we're overloaded there. Today, the left side was neutered. Any new arrival must be similar to Alan Thompson, not Scott Sinclair. The tactic just mandates a classic winger.

Sounds like a * disgrace. Imagine having that sort of youth system and not giving them a proper chance.

I mean, if Jota turns out great, that's great for us.

Alan Thompson whipping balls into Kyogo and Abada, so are about 5ft between them?

Whipping in at knee height, yes. Low crosses will work really well. That's how we cause panic in teams, when AngeBall works.

Think our front 3 need to be close to each other , if it's Abada , Kyogo , Jota , wouldnt want crosses whipped in constant like the huns nothing over knee height would prefer 2 inside forwards Abada looks to always cut in from the right imo

Maybe I've done him wrong as our expert here didn't hear him lacking professionalism. With the option to buy I'm alright with the loan and just hope for some Paddy Roberts moments

Not sure about him being "very one-footed". From what I've heard he's good with his left foot. And looking at his highlights from Valladolid, he scores one with his left, has a long shot on target with his left and a decent cross with his left. Small sample size of course, but he doesn't look totally uncomfortable on that side.

Did our best chance today (Edouard’s sitter) not come from the left? We failed to score because of our finishing, it’s absurd to say we failed to score because of playing an inverted winger.

What we need is unpredictability and Jota looks capable of both cutting inside and hitting the byline. Your obsession with the idea of a left footed winger solely hitting the byline completely undervalues Ange’s system.

I'd still take Yuki Soma over trhis guy, especially as people have wanted more Japanese players.

No, that concept actually helps us tear apart defensive sides. When teams line up like they do in Scotland, cutting inside runs into a wall. Persistently going down the side forces them to loosen the defense shape.

A front 3 of Jota - Kyogo - Abada definitely sounds exciting, judging by his highlights and the info from @Luz1904

The boy obviously has great potential.

So you choose to ignore my first paragraph because it completely disproves your statement?

As I said, we need players who are unpredictable and wingers capable of both cutting inside and hitting the byline. If a player is only capable of hitting the byline, defenders will simply show him inside into traffic on his week foot. We’ve seen it done frequently to Forrest and teams had even started doing it to Frimpong and completely nullifying him.

Variation, speed and unpredictability are key to Ange’s system and Jota looks capable of providing all three.
