    Just discovered this show on Netflix.
    The series started a bit slow but * * it’s funny. Some of the characters are a classic and the humour and sarcasm is great.
    What’s the story behind? It looks like it’s quite old and I think Netflix has 5 series. Is that the lot of them?

    There’s nine series, and a few Christmas & Hogmanay specials too.


    It is/was hugely popular here and they did a bunch of live shows in Glasgow too. It was born out of sketches & plays in another Scottish comedy called Chewin’ The Fat.

    It’s become ingrained in Scottish culture and people still quote the show even though it’s finished now.

    Scottish version of Blinky Bill, a lot of the patter is 2000s style in Glasgow, so you might not get it, but just enjoy watching the old boys have a laugh.

    I thought it was around 90’s. Still, it’s * hilarious. Winston has some ripping one liners, and loses the plot like no tomorrow.

    Early 2000s, characters started in Chewin the Fat which was late 90s, if you like that you should check out old Scotch and Wry stuff.

    I’m up to season 3. Winston was pretending to be Isa’s boyfriend, and just got busted for getting the 9.30pm ‘emergency’ phone calls from Eric to get him to the pub.
