Somehow with the fees quoted on other players and money already spent I have a funny feeling the fee for PSG isn’t as high as the media would like it to be

Roma have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Tammy Abraham apparently, so can likely score them off the list of potential buyers.

It’s a bit concerning that there doesn’t appear to have been much by the way of concrete bids. A lot of our rebuild likely hinges on getting rid of Edouard and bringing in a decent fee.

Why would a club spend 20m on an SPFL player when they can get him for free next summer or for a slashed fee in January.

If it was the Eddy of 2019 then yeah, he could walk into a decent side. Money well spent.

But his form over the last 18 months makes him a gamble that's not worth 20m.

I don't think he's going anywhere until next summer.

His form still provided a good goal return last season.

Clubs will pay money for him because they need the striker in now, nor wanting to risk someone else swooping for him.

    Is the hope at least.

I hope to * we can get rid of him this summer it would be horrible to lose him for nothing. Same goes for Christie if he doesn't want to sign a new contract we can't afford to lose players for nothing it's not sustainable.

See the rags are all running with Edouard prepared to run down his contract. Being honest I can’t see how that works for any of the parties involved.

For us it’s rubbish, we don’t get any fee and are left scrambling to sign players not of the level we are hoping for.

For Edouard despite a decent season last year, particularly the later half of the season wasn’t good and he is coming across as not particularly professional. If he tries to run down his deal, I don’t see him playing much if at all this year. He looks like a square peg in Ange’s system given the way he jogs around and doesn’t attack the box for cut backs the way we seem to want our Forwards to play.

Realistically how many clubs come next summer will be keen to sign him 18months after any decent form. Just look at the guys we’ve been linked with in Niang and Augustin, 18months ago they were top prospects now they will be lucky to be offered wages they are on just now. Therefore if it is finances that are holding up a move at Edouards end, he will get a pay rise but probably not a significant one.

Either way I still can’t see him still being here at the end of the window. He may not go for as much as we would like but he will still be away.

Does anyone else find that report a tad suspicious? For a start they only cite the source of this information as “ a source tells us” … seems like a knee * reaction from some of the hun news writers to deflect from the bad news coming from Ibrox. There’s no way the club would allow him to run his contract down and i doubt he would take the abuse over the next few months if he did. he’ll be gone this summer.

My biggest concern with him not leaving soon isn’t that we could potentially see him leave for nothing next summer, it’s the knock on effect not bringing in money for him just now will have on immediate transfer activity. His sale could be the key to bringing in 4-5 more new signings this summer, which we desperately need.

I fear without his sale we’ll be looking at the loan market.

£20m is nothing to many clubs.

Any decent scout would be able to appraise his ability from games prior to the 20/21 season, French u21s, games against Leipzig, Lazio etc. and reach the conclusion that he's a guy that is well worth £20m when at the top of his game.

£20m doesn't get you much these days. McBurnie went for more and he's absolutely hoaching. So did Solanke without even scoring a single goal in senior football.

He's definitely impacted the opportunities available to him by spitting the dummy in the last 18 months but that doesn't mean no-one is looking for a proven goalscorer.

The stakes are high in football now. It might seem obvious to wait til next summer to get him for free rather than paying £20m but if that £20m investment is the difference between your club not being relegated from the EPL then it's worth multiples of the transfer fee.

Im worried noone wants him tbh.

I now really want him sold so we can fund a move for Henry and 2-3 other quality players. I suspect the rest of our transfer activity this summer largely hinges on him going.
