Not an expert on Rovers but Wilson was pumping cash in before he got his pal Dermot involved.

They've got the best academy set up in the country now. That's already started paying dividends - Bazunu went straight to Man City for £400k. First team players are bringing in fees too; Byrne, McEneff, Clarke, Burke.

They're in a real position of strength now. League title last year and another one on the cards. European qualifiers are also a huge earner for Irish clubs. Group stage is the next step for them.

They've speculated to accumulate and now they're in a position to go and dominate the Irish game at all levels for the next decade, IMO

Bohs have a better set up with the largest school boy team in Dublin in St. Kevins boys. Every year Bohs turn a profit, Rovers don't unless as you said someone is pumping money in to prop up their accounts. They have been down this road before which ended in Bankruptcy..

There is absolutely no money in the league of Ireland and Desmond is gambling on making money by selling their youngsters.. LOI players don't sign long contracts and by and large leave for very little see Jack Byrne, something that needs addressed in Irish football

Bohs made over a million quid on the Doherty Wolves to Spurs deal, dwarfing anything Rovers have made..

Anyway different discussion for different thread haha

To the player in hand, Scales is no where near good enough for Celtic, end of

Scales is around 5 divisions below lee O'Connor and he is nowhere near the team. If we were buying a player from rovers it should have been zefi but he's signing for inter Milan on Tuesday

    They really don't mate.

Rovers underage has undergone massive investment over the last 10 years. Ask anyone on the ground or involved with under age football in the city. The tide is turning, it's no longer Kevins, Home Farm, Belvo, Joeys. The dominance has started from the very youngest age groups and is creeping up. Rovers will become the dominant force in all leagues over the next decade.

Rovers will continue to pick off Bohs best young players year after year £££ (and I'm most definitely not a Rovers fan)

Rovers havnt picked off any of Bohs underage talent.. They have benefited as I said from the lack of contract stability offered to LOI players.. see Mandriou, Lopez and Watts.

Bohs underage system has been funding the club for many many years and will continue to do so.

PS as you can tell I'm a Bohs fan and will give absolutely no credit to the Shams on any level, I hate them nearly as much as the huns:56:

I never mentioned underage talent, I said best young players. The three you've mentioned fall into that category. If they want to go and get Devoy and Tierney before the start of next season they can and will.

Rovers have ploughed millions in underage. If they can get even 2 of them across the water each year with sell on clauses built in, the whole things goes from strength to strength. If their first team continue to reel off LOI titles and play european conference league football, they go from strength to strength. That's the model, that's the long term plan they have invested heavily in and as a result, made financial losses from in recent years.

All Bohs Christmas' came at once when Doherty joined Spurs. Five or six years down the line, Rovers will have windfalls like that on a semi regular basis

Speculate to accumulate and all that. Long term planning. Something Celtic could learn from.

Why is there a player at another club that has Desmond involved going to inter Milan and not us? Why are we not aware of that player or spotting him before they do?

Because if he’s good enough for inter Milan he’s good enough for us.

This is not a 1st team signing, it's a colts signing. Folk need to stop assuming that the 'kids' we bring in are even intended for the 1st team
