See the link to all the Australian players, I am not sure it is founded even if Ange gets the job. It sounds like Fergal or someone else is going to be selecting who we sign/ are targeting.

Out of our reach you'd imagine. He might be 34 but he'll still have more attractive offers than us

Anyone on here know anything about the J-League? If we are bringing in this Aussie guy surely he would know decent players from both Aus and Japan? And surely the board know the value of Japanese players at a club, shirt sales, tours, merchandise etc.

I don’t know an awful lot about the J League but remember looking a bit at Kawasaki Frontier who won the league last year and are leading again this one. Their players also dominated the whole league team of the year last year.

A few of us discussed a left winger Kaoru Mitoma and box to box midfielder, Ao Tanaka from them who were doing well. There seems to be a couple of forwards in Ange’s own team that have been scoring regularly but I haven’t seen them play.

It does seem of late a fair few Japanese players are moving to both Belgium and Germany and doing fairly well.

Problems with J league or Asia in general will be work permits. You also have potential issues around langue and that not all players adapt too well to it (yes Shinsuke was amazing before anyone uses that example)

I wonder if Aaron Mooy would be worth a point? Always liked the look of him at Huddersfield.

Salzburg seem to be selling a lot of players fairly cheap.

I saw Ramahlo, CB is off to PSV for for less than €3m, Onguene is at Genoa and they have an option to buy him for about €4.5m, Ashimeru €2.5m option for Anderlecht, Gideon Mensah in Portugal at Vit. Guimares €2.2m option and Masaya Okugawa at Armenia Bielefeld (below €5m anyway they also have Doan on loan who was the main reason they stayed in Bundesliga but are struggling to afford €5m to buy him from PSV).

There’s a few in there if their options weren’t taken up, I would be keen on Onguene and Ashimeru for sure.

Wonder why that is? Salzburg is not usually a cheap hunting ground

That Mitoma is the sort of guy you need to break a team down who sits in. Great technical ability, fast feet and lighting quick. Get him in.

Not sure but it may be to do with the business model side of the club. They seem to only keep players for a certain period of time before moving them on to make room for the next batch of talent coming through as they seem to bring in a fair number every year at a very young age from Africa, Eastern Europe and Central European lower leagues.

Also the original mastermind Rangnick’s philosophy was players don’t develop past 24 years old so when players approach or pass that age they may look to move them on if they don’t look like getting bigger fees for them.

They have had success but even their top players don’t move for extraordinary fees like Haaland, Samassekou, Lainer, Wolf, Schlegel and Dabbur all went for fees between £10 and £15m except Haaland at £18m but I would argue most of them have gone cheap for how good the players are.

Went to Hoffenhein in 2019 has been pretty much a regular for them since. Agree I thought he was an absolute standout the season we played them in EL surprised he hasn’t been picked up by someone bigger.
