Ramos left out of the Spain squad.

Surely must be the first time in history Spain won’t have a Real Madrid player at a major tournament?

The drop in standard in that Spain team compared with the teams that won the Euros and World Cup is frightening.

    Ferran Torres

I don't think they'll win it but if they go for something like this then it has a lot of pace and flexibility. Quite an exciting, attacking team but aye, I deffo don't see them as winner's..

France for me. Belgium and Portugal strong player's also..

Laporte, Rodri, Busquets, De Gea, Ferrán, Thiago......they’re hardly scrapings now are they.....

Granted it’s not the freakishly gifted perfect storm of talented technical players of 2010/2012 but that truly was a once in a lifetime side.

Point is it’s still a good squad that blends experience with youth. These are the sorts of tournaments wherein the more ‘underwhelming’ younger guys like Pedri, Pau Torres, Olmo etc. are given the platform to really make a name for themselves.

Not exactly Casillas, Pique, Ramos, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Torres. As I said, the drop in standard in this squad to back then is frightening. That is the nature of International football, countries have their golden generations, like Belgium have just now. The drop in quality in the Spain squad is a severe one though.

And they’re still a very good team. The level they produced for that team was just legendary.

I fancy Portugal, I know the fact they won it last time probably means they won’t this time but their squad is miles better than 4 years ago and I’d say it’s the strongest in the tournament

    Felix top scorer
    Portugal win

Portugal’s spine is class. Patrício, Días, Moutinho/Neves, Fernandes, Félix, Ronaldo. Flanked by the likes of Cancelo, Jota etc. Even André Silva who has struggled over the last two years has been revitalised this season. I fancy them to win it tbh. Wouldn’t be shocked if they top the group they’re in with Germany and France either.

But they’re still a side capable of making a dent in the competition tbf. Any generation following the 2010s Spain side was going to pale somewhat in comparison.

They could make a dent, but I don't think they are side that will win it. It goes hand in hand with the decline of Real Madrid and Barcelona. They have both went backwards over the past few years, and the bulk of the Spanish team used to be made up of players from the two of them. Now there are no Madrid players in the team at all, that's mental.

Yea. A lot of people putting the lack of Real Madrid players in the squad down to Luis Enrique’s biases. But they fail to consider the possibility that maybe Real’s Spanish players, outwith Ramos, are just not as good as the other options available. Honestly, Real Madrid fans are like a roided up version of Der Hun in terms of their self entitlement.
