Sometimes it takes an absence to make you realise what your missing, and football often highlights this.

Forrest has been on the end of plenty of criticism over the past few seasons, but has never grumbled, looked to get away or given less than 100%.

He’s been a huge loss, and in a terrible season, it’s great to have him back in hoops and back in the team.

I just wish we had another 5 years of Forrest. Scored some very important goals for us. Great to see him finally back.

If he hadn’t got injured, even if not playing his best I would guarantee he would be in double figures each for goals and assists !! Missed him massively this season

    He’s 29, it’s highly possible.

I hope so but I don’t see it happening if I’m honest.

Haven’t seen as much as a kick from today’s match against Livi, but I hope the critics of Forrest (of which there are many) are eating their words.

Btw, had Forrest been available this season, do you think he could’ve saved our season and help secure the 10? I’m not suggesting him alone could’ve saved our season, but I wonder to what extent we missed him and what difference he would’ve made to the outcome of our 20/21 season had he been in the starting 11 regularly. Or would it have been irrelevant since the manager in charge didn’t have either the tactical nous or the command of the dressing room?

Hopefully fit for next week and he’s shown already that he can be a big part of the team next season as well. If we do bring Howe in, I can see Forrest being a key player under his set up.

However, we do badly need competition in wide areas so I hope to see a couple of wingers being brought in.

    Hopefully it isn't serious..

His finish the was chalked off for offside was a cracker by the way..

Adds so much to us with his pace and ball carrying. Takes up a lot of dangerous position's..

We're a different animal going forward when he's in the mood. Hopefully a niggle and nothing more.

Feel like seeing how direct he was today is something we haven’t seen all year. Loved it, and all the more gutted about this season now after seeing that we can do it.

Brings that dimension to our attacking play we have sorely missed. We are a much better team with him in it.

Yes, better balanced. Criminal that we dont have a replacement/cover for JF.
Another one for the recruitment rap sheet.

Probably our best and most consistent player over the last 4 years and Neil Lennon didn’t think to replace him when he was due to be out for nearly a whole season? Shocking. Can see since he’s been back what we’ve been missing from having a pacey direct winger

Why? Do you think he wants to leave? I think he is one of the guys we build the new team around. Given his age his next few years should be his peak career years.

I never said he wants to leave if his legs let him play for 5 years which I don’t think they will.

We'd have been closer mathematically but that's about it. Forrest has a knack for scoring important goals and the intelligence, movement and pace to go with it. But he'd need to have a Messi-like season to mask our deficiencies and wasn't in great form pre-injury either.

Ahh ok I see. Well he is 29 now so just entering what is typically a pros peak career years which should last until about 32 typically. So I think Forrest is one of the players we can build a new Celtic team around this summer.
