Keane, honestly. He should be nowhere near us in any footballing capacity. A short tempered Lennon. The board also don't enough goodwill banked to pull that one off.

Mentioned this in the Scott Brown thread but relevant here also.

I do find it a bit worrying that he's (Broonie) leaving before a new manager is announced. Makes me think there's zero hew manager in place. Broonie doesn't want to hang around until that appointment, then be told, you're not in my plans and miss the Aberdeen job/chance. Any new new guy you would think would want at a minimum, speak to broonie about the future.

After writing, it's also possibility he knows and doesn't fancy it. That's even worse.

Just wish the club would act responsibly and do the right thing by fans. * communicate, not just birthdays and daft tweets, or asking for money.

So he was first team coach at Sevilla & West Ham yet they didn't keep him on? Aye sounds promising that

That’s correct. Unlike Celtic recently, most clubs operate whereby a manager brings in his own coaching team, and they leave the club when he leaves.

He was then snapped up by, to quote you, ‘the best run academy in the UK’ where he has turned a mid table team into run away league winners.

Hans-Dieter Flick was assistant manager at Red Bull Salzburg and Germany. They never kept him on. He now manages Bayern München.

Thomas Tuchel managed Augsburg's reserve team. They never kept him on. He has since managed Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea.

There are countless other examples of successful managers leaving similar positions early in their careers.

Coaching at Manchester City under arguably one of the greatest managers in history is a step up from coaching at Sevilla and West Ham in any case.

He left Sevilla to join Pellegrini at West Ham who he played under, then left when Pellegrini did. To be the u23's manager at Manchester City you have to be an outstanding coach, the recruitment process for that is absolutely mental they go through 4 interview processes before doing another 8 different interviews/tasks if selected to be in the final group of candidates, you don't get that job unless you have a bit.

Whether or not he would be able to transfer all that he's learnt upon onto us if he gets the job remains to be seen, id rather Eddie Howe or even Chris Wilder tbf but at the same time id be excited at the prospect of giving this guy the job and seeing what he can do.

Embarrassing how little people in this country understand about the DOF/Head Coach combo.

Look at Pellegrino at Stuttgart, Jesse Marsch, and now Xabi Alonso at Gladbach. Managers are a thing of the past, coaches are there to coach and Maresca has absolute loads of experience in that field.

Doing that with an U23 side is not solely grounds on which a Celtic manager should be appointed

    I couldn’t agree more.

What experience did Mourinho have before he won the UEFA cup and
Champions league with Porto? And that’s going back 18 year ffs.

Managers are a bygone concept in modern football.

Football has changed drastically since those days and even at that, Jose had still managed two senior teams before Porto.

Aye? I'd like to see us start punching above our weight in Europe again, someone like Steve Clarke would have us doing that again imo

Clarke reminds me of Strachan who did a decent job in europe but i’d rather an up and coming manager like maresca
