What Benitez has done in his career speaks for its self. But would he really have the motivation required to come here and rebuild?

Does he really want to be pitting his wits against martindale and tommy wright? and would he realistically be happy with reaching the Group stages of the CL being the milestone? No chance in my opinion.

Plus its been said he has no real interest in bringing through youth (Carraghers words), it's all about the first team. He can build a team and set them up well with a big chequebook.

 

Low would be a horrendous appointment. Don’t think people realise how different international management is, especially when you’ve got a pool of German players to pick from.

 

See, I'd like a middle ground approach to youth. Select a few to break through from the academy, but let transfers add more mature players into the roster. Resale value should NOT be priority when choosing signings.

May have the most expensive youth team but also the youngest. You also have to make that team of expensive players do something. We have the most expensive player in Scotland, most expensive goalkeeper, a winger and left back who's parent club paid around 15m for plus several players costing over £3m but have been *. Eddie Howe would still be my first pick. Although would we find ourselves in the same predicament as we were with Rodgers - just waiting on him being headhunted with no strategy for properly replacing? Would all of the good things slowly disappear like they did when Rodgers left?

Maresca along with Harkin could be a better long-term option if we are looking for stability over the next 5 seasons. He could still bring success next season but ultimately it would be more about building a team over the next couple of seasons who can compete domestically and in Europe.

 

See if that’s true we shouldn’t entertain him if he doesn’t get the Palace job. Imagine taking that job over the Celtic one, he’s already had the let’s just survive in the Premiership job for years. A manager I would want here but only if he really wants it too and not because he didn’t get a mid to bottom EPL job.
