MANAGERLESS Celtic have been linked with a move for 20-year-old Dutch right back Milan van Ewijk.

The Hoops are set to decide who will succeed Neil Lennon, with John Kennedy in charge as interim boss for the remainder of the season.

But their scouts have watched defensive talent van Ewijk, who has impressed for Den Haag in the Eredivisie this season.

However, they face competition to land van Ewijk - who has 18 months left of his contract - from German clubs Schalke, Hamburg, Darmstadt and Belgian side Gent.

Ewijk's agent, Style de Jong, said: "At the moment Milan is focusing on the relegation battle with Den Haag.

"He is not distracted by all the interest in him.

"We have drawn up a step-by-step plan together to make the best choices in his early, but promising career and we will stick to that."

The full back has made 24 appearances for Den Haag this season, but looks certain to move at the end of the campaign.

I looked him up on YouTube. The guy looks class (like every player does).

Just watched him. He looks excellent..

Absolutely rapid and a good defender..

Gonna struggle to compete against German club's though and particularly when we don't even have a manager sorted out..

    Hope we get him..

We do show a good pathway though. Our last Dutch right back has just moved to Leverkusen for 11 mill and everyone knows about Van Dijk..

Don't have a recognised right back for next season so the guarantee of first team football will be high here..

Milan van Ewijk seems to be in his last months as a player of ADO Den Haag. The twenty-year-old defender is emphatically followed by several clubs from home and abroad.

Schalke 04, Hamburger SV and SV Darmstadt have been following Van Ewijk's performance from Germany for some time, while the Scottish Celtic and the Belgian KAA Gent have recently also expressed their interest. The Dutch subtop also informs about the wing defender.

This season, Van Ewijk is one of the few bright spots at the wandering ADO Den Haag. The talented right back played with the amateurs of Excelsior Maasluis two years ago, but has been undergoing stormy development since his entrance in the Hofstad. Van Ewijk still has a contract until mid-2022 and ADO would like to renew with him. However, there is a very good chance that the defender will leave after this season.

'At the moment Milan is focusing on the relegation battle with ADO', says his supervisor Style de Jong of Global Football Management. 'He doesn't get distracted

Looking on the positive side of things, unusually for this season, we do have some things going for us.

Like you said, you'll definitely get game time having NO right backs at the club come summer, past record with players moving on to better things. Play a couple years here and then you're ready for a german first team instead of having to wait in their reserves.

If only we had our act together off the pitch...

If there are German clubs firmly interested in him we have no chance. Higher standard, closer to home and wages would be much better.

German teams mentioned are Shalke who are dead certs to relegate and Hamburg who are Bundesliga 2. Would they really offer much more in wages than us?

Regardless of whatever talent this lad may possess it worries me that we seem to be making attempts to bring players in(supposed to be close to a pre-contract for a guy called Joseph from Wigan too) when we have no manager in place. Signing players without the coach/manager's knowledge or backing leads to trouble 9 times out of 10 and has happened to us before. We need to get next-season right and part of that has to be the new manager getting the players HE wants.

The club knows we have a clear out coming. They need to get some cheap guys in now so we actually have a team for the qualifying rounds. I don't really have a problem with this as long as the new DOF/manager have most of the money to buy the more expensive signings.

The clubs interested in him are two from the second bundesliga and Schalke, who are going down this season, it would be between us and Gent.

Would love this to happen. He looks a really good player and has a great engine.

I don’t know if it’s just me but I feel anyone who we are linked with we will end up dragging it out and * it up!

Tbf we are in the same boat as most of our competition for him, Schalke are a disaster and will be in bundesliga 2 next year Hamburg are in the process of bottling promotion for a third year in a row and Gent won’t be in Europe next year. We are still the most appealing move on that list

Hopefully get him. He looks the business..

Young. Rapid. Can defend. Playing at a decent level and regularly already. Will be cheap if relegated and only a year left on his deal..

Stating the obvious but we badly need a right back pronto..

These kinda quality low fee deals will massively help towards our rebuild if we're to spend big on a few other position's..
