Desmond's knowledge of the game is so limited the only options that will come into his dim head will be someone who's worked in England. That's all he knows.

Nothing unusual there, seems to be bit of a journey man. On transfermarkt i counted 17 clubs in 18yrs.

 

I thought he was still at Cluj

 

He left them and went to Kayserispor in Turkey. He lasted 45 days.

The guy is a journeyman and should be nowhere near the Celtic job.

 

And they are a very difficult to play against team. He has a good mix of exepensive older players Subotic, Knoche Kruse, Getner and younger players. Very hard to play against. He would be within our reach financially, Union wont be paying top Dollar. But will he leave Union, as you said they are doing very well, might even get into Europe.

 

Apparently we are using the same tactics that we used on Lennon. Dominic McKay is being lined up to approach Eddie Howe while he's taking a shower in his hoose, they are hoping that element of fear and surprise will confuse him into signing a 3 year deal.

 

Nah he left them around November/December time as it was while everyone was expecting Lenny to get sacked and some people were saying he'd quit to come here back then.

 

I think he could be tempted if we offer good money and they don't finish in a European place. But I'd be surprised if another team in the Bundesliga don't come in for him.

Shaun Maloney has always impressed me. As a player he always had a brilliant attitude and professionalism, he was also well known as one of the hardest trainers. He now has experience of coaching at the highest level with the Belgian national team. I dont think Maloney has the character to become the Celtic manager in his own right but if Martinez was to be appointed our manager, having Maloney with him would be a massive bonus.

Martinez wife is Scottish and Maloney would not be adverse to returning to Celtic. Most likely won't happen but id be disgusted if Celtic didnt at least sound Martinez out about the possibility of coming to Celtic when the Euro's are completed in the summer.

 

All the Martinez chat really depends on how well Belgium do at the Euros if they go on to win it I wouldn't be shocked to see him end up at Barca

 

I reckon Petrescu would be a decent outsider. He has good pedigree and seemed to have that Cluj mob well set up

 

Dont want martinez, struggled everywhere and literally fell into the belgium job.

Id take the slavia manager, read good things about him.

 

He's managed 15 clubs in 18 years,many for less than a year. He should be nowhere near us.

 

Its guys like Maloney and Duff that deserve to be a coach at Celtic, specially if we can get them properly involved in a good coaching structure. Constantly sending them on courses and to training camps across the world to better themselves. But signed to Celtic and NOT brought in as a managers personal project - ie once the manage leaves he cant be dragging half the staff with him as his "own"

For that reason, I would be cautious of bringing Maloney AND Martinez, though not against Martinez at all!

But aye, these sort of ex players and "celtic men" is what we want. Not just gifting jobs to Kennedy, Lennon, Brown (soon to be) and Strachan because of his auld man.

Actually go out there and prove your worth.
With each of these having obvious specialties and experience to coach and educate young talent.

Would be up for seeing Mjalby back in a solid coaching role as well, that guy screams professionalism and from memory is actually good at being a defensive coach!



As for manager, I am back in the camp of Martinez, Howe, Silva, being the calibre we need to go for and the mentality of a manager we need to go for. Anything less than that sort of level is going to feel disappointing - unless it is just a level below, but all the similar traits.
