Should've went for marshall , hindsight eh

As others said that defence in front wouldn't fill you with confidence.

If we had, we would likely still he in the same position we are in just now.

The keepers not making the howlers (any of the three) it's the defence.

All that would be different is we would he moaning we didn't go all out for a keeper younger and more hungry than Marshall.
We'd get folk moaning about his age, just here for a last pay packet etc.

Again, keepers not the fault. Barkas isn't wowing anyone or proving his worth to us, yet, but he's not the reason we are lossing games and defensively absolute *.

    Can't disagree, so frustrating man.

He looks so nervy , I think we have seen the worst of him if the defence ... team gets sorted.

    Totally agree.

Should we actually organise the team and defence, get an arm around Barkas to help settle him in to the side. We very well may see him shine.
Much more to him than we see already.

If anything, this is the one thing Lennon could blame Covid on - the inability for foreign players to settle quickly and bond with new team.

But alas, even though Lennon's random flake outs he manages not to even pick up on this small detail.

Can he speak English? Don’t know if it’s confidence or not but I’ve never seen him speak to the defence. Polar opposite to Forster who’d be screaming at every man.

Look at the games though, look at the goals we concede, he isn't getting 20 shots rocketed at him in a game, they are set pieces where the defence let us down.
He's not had many to actually need to save - admittedly there is a few goals now we want to see him get a glove on to, but they arent howlers.

Likely not, and likely a big issue - he and the club should do more to help this.
His 3 man bubble should be the two most common CB pairing to help build communication and encouragement.

The club seems fond of Zoom calls, since we can't "bond" as they want them to, they should be implementing Zoom bonding nights like the rest of the nation has been doing.

Judging how Lennon treats coaching and development, I assume safely he doesn't give a * to make these things happen - the players could start it themselves, but dare say the ones in the position to take lead are too happy drinking beers with the boss.

Celtic Underground’s recent pod put it perfectly, as have many on here mind you. He’s clearly not as poor as he’s been showing, he’s an international level goalkeeper with CL experience, he’s come to this club and Scotland in general at an awful time. He has had no opportunity to meet compatriots etc. to somewhat ease his transition. He can’t do what players at this level usually can and just go back to Greece for a couple of days or fly his family over, a similar case can be made for Elhamed actually. And that’s just off the field stuff. Then you have the shitshow management team and an ever rotating centreback pairing.

When he first arrived he stated this:

seems that the Scottish Champions have now registered their own interest, and want him to the man in the sticks as they go for the fabled ten in a row.

However in an interview last month Barkas actually admitted he'd rather play outfield than in goals.

He said: "I don't like playing as a goalkeeper. It's not fun to play in that position.

"If I had the choice I would play as a defender or as a midfielder. In fact, when I am training with Greece, I play left back in the practice sessions.

"I actually became a goalkeeper by mistake. I went for trials in Kolonos when I was a kid and the coach put me in goal because he had enough players, even though I was short then.

Agreed. The offer to Gordon was disrespectfully low. Sure, his best years were behind him but he had at least another season in him and he's better than anything we have at the club just now between the sticks

He was 3rd choice keeper and was offered more than st mirren or Hearts offered.

Thank * we have a manager and coaches who take their time to coach and develop players, otherwise a mentality like that could become an issue with confidence and enforcing himself....

It's not all Celtics fault here, but if he's came out publicly with this sort of comments, we really should be training with him in a lot more detail and encouraging him more to get his mind on the job.

If he's really not interested, * try him at left back then

The derisory offer Celtic made him was 80% less than his existing/prior contract. He'll be on more at Hearts than Celtic offered

He does speak English. With no crowds you can hear it in recent games too.

He was on at least 15k at Celtic, if not more.

I highly doubt st mirren or a championship hearts offered him over 3k.

But guaranteed to play. That wasn't the case here and if he thought he'd be playing and not sitting on his * he'd have a point about the offer he got made.
