In short, clubs need to show they are living within their means and any debt/loans are cleared within a period of time and basically they aren't relying on them to live year on year.

The Huns are playing a dangerous game with how they do it.

Clubs have managed to get around it before, take man city for an example, where they basically sponsored their own stadium for £25million a year (or something stupid).
Psg got around it to sign Neymar by someone connected to the club giving Neymar a "loan" to buy out his contract at Barcelona. Only works in places like Spain where their employment contracts allow this.

For Desmond to do likewise, he would need to get one of his other companies to basically sponsor the stadium for £10mill to 15mill a year.

The huns short term loans are either paid back in time (lol) or converted to shares, devalues the company but I guess in some way is deemed acceptable enough by uefa not to dig too deeply.

We know from previous issues, uefa don't look in to clubs accounts if they don't need to. They take governing body words for things when handing out uefa competition entry (for clubs meeting criteria).

I'd rather not see Celtic to down that sort of route(any of the above) to get around ffp - no matter how often the bigger clubs get away with it. Knowing our run ins with uefa, we'd get caught out quickly enough.

It's not just fair play, we are a PLC and are governed by that stock exchange, companies act etc so just can't throw money at the club with no reason

"hwre Rafa, I know we spoke last time and instead we picked Neil, while telling the world we didn't give a * about any other applications...but you fancy the job now?"

No sure how that chat will really pan out, but not confident Rafa would he open to discussion after last time.
He it we plumped for the lazy easy option, or he knocked us back.
    Either way, nowts changed.

Benitez on the speculation last time -

“I was aware of some interest but we didn’t have any official approach,” the Spaniard told The Athletic.

“I was still under contract at Newcastle so we couldn’t even consider this option.”

It's eye watering how many name managers are actually out of work.

Just from the first two pages you would take: Marco Silva, Leonardo Jardim, Marc van Bommel, Jurgen Klinsman and Eddie Howe.

All would do well here and all would bring instant respect. The style of Klinsman maybe less so, but on the whole those 5 should be well within our reach and we should be going for this sort of manager more often than not. The exception being a Brendan Rodgers who is a level above this lot.

We should not be accepting: Tony Mowbray, Owen Coyle, Ronnie Deila (absolute no disrespect to this man), Neil Lennon, Jack Ross, Alex Neil - which unfortunately is where Peter Lawwell's mind always travels to.

Just seeing that Gaizka Garitano is out of work as well now. He would be a slightly risky one with no BIG success to his name, but he took Eibar to back to back promotions and made the cup final as well. Good style of player and would bring in a much more health, fitness, disciplined approach to the club.
Doubt he would cost much at all.
