Ability wise, no, suppose not. Could add Mcnally, mclaughlin and hendry too.

Mcgugan, Baillie and o'leary. Showing your age there. Mcgugan actually scored the 1st goal I seen in the flesh at CP.

Hazard flapped at it but by Christ, why is Duffy not putting his laces through that clearance?

Solid all night. The goals an awkward one as it’s a goal line clearance from him.

Don’t know what the * Hazard and Laxalt are doing for the goal but..

Tbh he was having a good game until the end. Just hoof it away Shane like you do why your trying to ping a ball 80 yards to no one.

What I cant understand is....Centre half is the easiest position to play in the whole * game. Bobo Balde. Win the ball in the air and kick it as far as you can. Nobody's asking you to be Franz Beckenbauer. Just win the baw in the air and clear it.

Big Paul Elliott for example. Keep the game simple and do the simple things well

For a guy thats been built up as a no nonsense, backs to the walls defender, an international player with experience, to panic and flick a toe at that is shocking.

He played well until then but he's always gonna have those moments in him, another nail in the coffin for me.

He had NO blame what so ever for the goal. Laxalt gives away a stupid free kick and then the keeper flaps. His clearance was just a reaction to a ball he wouldn't be expecting

Aye its 2021. Game doesnt change that much. Especially when you are only asked to play in Scotland. Principles of the game are exactly the same. Centre Half - Win the ball in the air and clear the * ball. Thats the basics of your job description. Unless you are top class like say Virgil Van Dijk then your no expected to do much else on top of that as long as your doing the basic part well. 2021's got * all to do with it

Actually, the game has changed that much.

‘Win the ball in the air and kick it as far as you can’ is literally the opposite of what most managers want from their centre halves. Archaic.

‘Especially when you’re only asked to play in Scotland’ I’m sure we compete in Europe every season too. Make a list of how many EL and CL centre halves are ‘kicking it as far as they can’, it shouldn’t take you long

Yes I get that. In a perfect world our centre halves would be playing the ball out from the back like we're Barcelona. However we are not Barcelona. We are playing teams like Ross County and * Hamilton and we do not need to be playing like we are playing Champions League teams. The point I was making is that playing center half in any era is the easiest position to play in the game. It is simple. Your not being asked to do anything amazing.

Even if you look a bit closer to the present day. Stephen McManus or big Boyata even. None of them were brilliant - they just played the game simple. That's why if you had a half decent player like Chris Sutton who knew how to play the game and had played in the position before, he could go back and do a shift there no problem when needed - exactly like he did do. Point is - its the easiest role on the park to play - it is simple - if you know how to play the game - then its no requiring you to do anything spectacular to no * things up. So how our center halves keep managing to * things up as spectacularly as they keep managing to do is beyond me

He played well and still made a * of it.

It happens sometimes where it just doesn’t work out and this is one of those times, he isn’t the answer for Celtic.
