The point isn't about comparing EPL to the Scottish league. More about his defending ability coming from a team (that happens to be in the EPL) that has to defend more than attack and coming to a team that does less defending and more attacking. So when he's called upon to do his job its like he's failing miserably despite having to do it a lot less during 90 minutes.

It’s similar to why a lot of goalkeepers suit being at a weaker side, facing shots regularly, as opposed to playing for a team like ours where he doesn’t have much to do.

Concentration is key. Duffy was usually having to defend on a regular basis so was always switched on and alert to any danger around him. Now he might not have to make a tackle or win a header for long spells of the game and he starts to switch off.

That, plus the fact he’s playing in a team who send their full backs flying forward, so he has to cover more ground, and he has no pace about him at all.

Could be a million different reasons. It happens with some players.

I just think he's a very basic defender that doesn't suit our style of play. Cut our losses in January.

Does it? * my bad, I didn't realise that made you a good player.

Surley we could've enticed an EPL legend like Robbie Savage to Celtic back in the day then, I mean he must've been even better as he played more than double the games Duffy has in that league.

I wasnt sure of him when people were saying about him a few years ago, but it's ott now with him.

Do agree his style of play maybe doesnt suit our style but our midfield passing back all the time doesn't help.

Give him a chance, same with the goalie.

Didn't watch the game, but judging from the highlights, Maguire got the best of him aerially tonight

That happened just the once for the goal. Please watch the full game and come back with the correct stats. He won about 5 headers in a row within a 10 min period in the first half. Also, got 2 last minute blocks to prevent shots on target from 6 yards. He is a good player. Shayne should leave Celtic straight away as he will never be accepted with most of the support due to the start he has had.

He was also beaten by Maguire in the next highlight. But I'll take your word for it. He needs to drastically improve. All well and good saying he's a good player but he has to show it

Wouldn't be against punting him in January and bringing Gallagher from Motherwell in tbh

At the same time, I also wouldn't be against punting him in January and bringing in a Traffic Cone as a replacement.

Funny that Marshall, O'Donnell, Gallagher, Tierney, Robertson and McGregor came from our youth team and for Scotland are quite solid now hardly conceding a goal, when we are leaking goals for fun.

where is this “give him a chance” coming from?

Hes had a chance, an ample amount, he isnt suited to our game or style of play.

players have been hounded for alot less!

send him back in january and go get someone else, someone who can pass, is tough and has a bit of pace.

Yeah I’m not really getting it.

He’s here for another 7 months. We’ve got a number of centre backs that are very, very clearly better than him. We could persist with him, or we could just play the guys that are clearly levels above him and are actually our own players, when they’re back fit.

Would understand it more if he was a decade younger and permanently contracted here, but he’s neither. The onus is on him to force the issue and prove he deserves a place in the team rather than us just persisting with him because he’s a fan.

7 months, he's played 8 games for us in SPL (scored 2 and assisted 1) and 5 in Europe. 13 games, and believe me not many have been good in those 5 games in Europe either.

Aye its not been a great start, but that ain't many games.
