Seriously? I like both of them, but for me Ajer has been our player of the year so far this season and, to be quite honest, it’s not even close.

Funny how people see the game differently.

It doesn't always work that way with players. Maybe he has personal issues, maybe he feels under pressure after a few bad games and he's stuck in a rut. Maybe he needs time to adjust to the Scottish game.

I'll say it again, get behind him and judge him in January

This might be a thing for people who've seen him before TBH. I respect that a lot of people who know him say he's much better than this and I'm prepared to be patient; but you have to understand why that got a laugh: based on what we've seen in a Celtic shirt, Bitton is a far better defender.

I'm not for a minute arguing that you are wrong. Too many people who know him have said he's better than this for it not to have a deal of truth to it; I just don't think it is worth bookmarking posts for when Duffy comes good, because for those of us who only watch Celtic, Bitton does currently look a much better defender.

I quite like Duffy's attitude though and I've seen one or two glimpses of what he might offer later.

It's because he was so rank rotten for about 6 months before that, but I have to agree that he has been our best defender this year.

Thats a fair enough comment to be fair. I guess some people are willing to give him time and some aren't

Got to be honest big bitton has slotted in very well , calm under pressure, good passer and good feet for a big guy but because so much scrutiny being put on big Duffy a lot of Other players mistakes getting overlooked, against Aberdeen in the cup, Bitton lost the ball in possession as last man twice which we got away with then hit stray pass straight to Hedges again got away with it

also poor not making a challenge for Sparta second goal

Brown did the same 3 times v Motherwell Pass straight to an Opposition striker fortunately we didn’t concede from it
No one really said much about it
Duffy makes They Exact same Mistakes he gets crucified

A know we can change things to much sometimes you just need to persevere, goldson was getting called a big donkey by every rangers fan last year, said Tavernier never a captain, terrible defender, tbf Gerrard kept playing them now got a good understanding of each other, same Huns that were slagging them got them the new Maldini n Beckenbauer

I certainly didn't. I thought VVD was and is a really class player.

    Spot on !

Against Sparta in a * display from Celtic, Bitton was actually (much) worse than Duffy.

But lets all get stuck into Shane Duffy. Thick Paddy time innit ! straight from the RM and SMSM songsheet.

Sorry mate but I loved this bit ..." Bitton has Slotted in very well.." Slotted in ??? He is 29 years old , this is his eighth yes 8th xxxxing season in the Hoops.

He’s probably been our best player this season.

Been the best defender by a distance (Laxalt is changing that, though).

Think you misunderstood what he’s saying.

A lot of people used to say he was lazy, because he made the game look so easy.

I agree on the Bitton point above he is never a centre half but on Brown he has been criticised this season every bit as much as Duffy.

What Duffy has delivered here so far has been extremely poor, he has displayed school boy level defending in most of his appearances whether this has been through rash decisions, panicking and sloppy in possession, or positioning dropping deeper than the defensive line and playing the opposition onside.

All of this when he was brought in as an experienced PL and international captain material centre back to shore up our defence and improve us when in reality he has looked like a lower league level player.

He hasn’t been the only one but has had more than his share of individual errors.
