I'd play Duffy up front as the lone striker.

Maybe this is the spark we need for the season, a turning point.

A win for us could really kickstart our season. Gave up on the second half of the Milan game as its on in the middle of the night and missed our improved showing second half.

Got another early start tomorrow and plan to watch the game so really hoping that the players are up for this. Our away form is something that has improved in recent years but our opponents are unbeaten this season so its a tough ask

how our players start the game is so important.. Lenny needs to get them up for this and get out of his chair during the match .. at least try to show some interest on whats happening and make sure we get forward at a much quicker pace

There was wee signs when we changed style and formation that it was effective against Milan, obviously that came too late and game was already gone by then.

But do the same tonight from the start and we might just be able to pull something off here.

Also just a random observation of late, as * as he's been in his overall game lately, is it just me or has anyone else noticed Elyounoussi winning far more headers than he should be lately, the guy has got some leap on him.

Loss to scum he beat Goldson in the air multiple times, won a fair few against Milan and sure he got his head to something during sheep game.

    Walk On
So, France is putting the full country on full lockdown tomorrow and yet we are playing tonight. As much as I love the football I find it worrying that the footballing authorities are still allowing games to go on. You and I know that the only team that hasn't been affected by Covid are the huns and they are either very lucky or are in league with the devil. So, fingers crossed none of our players come back from France affected.

    —————---Barkas/Bain————-

    ——-Ajer———-Bitton——-Taylor—-

    Frimpong——McGregor————-Laxalt

    ————————Rogic————————

    ———Christie——————-Eddy———
    ———————-Griffiths———————-

Alternatively to be more defensive you could drop Rogic/Christie and push McGregor on and bring a Brown/Soro in to play in front of the defence.

No chance we will play this but it is a formation I believe could work for us and longer term is actually one we have the players to fit the positions. It also allows us to get a number of our players who are good on the ball into the team. We lose so many goals in Europe from slack passing when we have it inviting team on to us.

We need to get Griff and Eddy on in the same team and get them firing again as that is what won us the title last year. Also Rogic is our most creative player and the one capable of finding forward runs, he is also one of the only players who can hold the ball in the final third. This formation would see him in a playmaker role where Christie in the inside right channel can help out covering for defensive duties.

Playing Ajer and Taylor who are both fine on the ball, as well as Biton will allow us to build out from the back and get overloads which particularly down the right we should try to work allowing Eddy to come in and make it a front two with Rogic just behind. McGregor can also make runs from deep in such a scenario with Laxalt tucking in to help cover midfield.

No doubt Duffy and Brown will start and we will consistently

Good on paper maybe, but in reality, we'd be mad as * to play Taylor as left sided CB of a back 3, he'd be done in hard there, it'd be no different to playing Duffy in a back 3 that's how mad it would be.

I would have preferred Elhamed there or Julien central with Bitton on one of the sides but neither are available. Lille isn’t probably the game for it as they will be better than us but it is a sort of shape that I think we could do well in.

A back four will also be a challenge though as Frimpong isn’t the best defensively neither has Laxalt been. Taylor lacks the ability to get forward. There’s no point playing Duffy unless we plan to sit in and try and counter attack them as he will get ripped in behind if our defence step out.

In midfield I suspect Brown will play and they will knock it around him as they will be more mobile and better on the ball.

Being honest I really don’t fancy our chances given the way we have been playing of late and the fact their strength seems to be dynamic attacking midfielders, something even when we are playing well we struggle with, as no one in our midfield picks up runners leaving the defence exposed.
