Not to end up all political, but if brexit is going to be as bad as they say and they lose the amount of jobs forcast, add to that the pandemic job losses the tv bubble might burst sooner than people think.
    Here is hoping.

This is a very politically naive statement. It's arguably one reason they exist.

This is a gross, gross oversimplification.

Big players become big players through firstly excellent coaching, and secondly playing as part of a system that allows them to excel, and become ‘big players’. They don’t just wake up one day with the ability they have and we’ve all seen countless examples of excellent players being used incorrectly, and looking utterly hopeless.

‘Tactics’ aren’t designed to make Duffy any better at hitting a cross field 40 yard pass - training, and natural aptitude are what count there. With regards to Duffy, it was clear that Aberdeen’s tactics today involved drawing him into the wide areas, isolating him in a 1v1 situation, and going at him with pace in that situation. It worked exactly as they wouldn’t liked.

The best teams in the world spend so much time on tactical training because it works - because teams aren’t just the sun of their individual parts and never have been.

I doubt Brexit will make much difference, mate. I presume the majority of the TV money comes from outside the UK.

    Covid might, though.

He didn't do either with a makeshift defence and no fit strikers.

Definitely will have an impact, it will affect all the sports that rely on huge viewing audiences. People with less spare cash for Sky : kids and Gen XYZ more interested in FIFA 2020 than actually going to games. The smaller leagues ( and lower divisions in FA and SFA ) will be the first to go.

Without crowds EPL, SPL etc and NBA, NFL loses most of its excitement and appeal. For sports lovers, our new normal could be a pretty soul-less one.

Definitely capable of setting up a team when underdogs - which his team were in those scenarios.

Based on what we’ve seen since he’s come back he’s very little tactical nous when looking to break down packed defences or making in-game changes to affect a game.

Getting it wide and whipping balls in to the box or passing it to Frimpong and letting him run is the only tactics I’m seeing.

The tv money bubble isn’t bursting anytime soon.

If anything it’s only going to keep getting bigger.

Those managers are in those jobs with world class talent at their disposal because they’ve had a belief in a way of playing, an identity throughout their whole managerial career. Did Klopp have world class talent at Mainz? Or even in his early days at a debt stricken Dortmund? Did Simeone have world beaters at Racing Club or Catania? Or Conte at Bari? No. Those guys built teams and by extension superstars through an ideology, a system. Lennon’s approach has always been, get the quality on the park and let them do their thing, which is fine when it works, but when it starts to unravel, * hits the fan big time. As we are bearing witness to now.

Forgive me for not expounding the complete works of Peter Kropotkin in my response to Paul's assertion that 'the modern hipster fan loves a tactic'.

Is Mick McCarthy out of work?
One thing he would do is sort out our defense.

Lenny should not be taking all of the blame , the defensive coach is mostly to blame and Lenny should sack him ...

well, that would be my solution if we actually had a defensive coach.

No having that man. He's played midfielders upfront when there's been multiple strikers available and got us * out up Europe with defenders on the bench. * mend him.
