Vasilis Barkas

from what I’ve seen so far, Barkas is very composed on the ground, very continental. He has secure hands and was very commanding in the air against Sarajevo. Just because he’s yet to have a Forster v Zombies game doesn’t mean he hasn’t got it in his locker. The guy is still adjusting to different dynamic in terms of how the game is played up here. I still have every confidence the guy will come good!

I genuinely hope Barkas improves and steps up to the mark - hopefully he has the potential. I don’t think he’s been anywhere near that level yet.

Folk went mental at Bain for the double deflection goal v Hamilton and cause he tipped the ball over bar but no criticism of Barkas not making a save and some dubious goals

Anyway I’d rather just try and get stiff Forster back in January...cutting your nose in spite your face n all that.

 

I can't believe people are still suggesting Forster, why do people not realise he doesn't want to come back here?

Like the rest of the team, his confidence is shattered at the moment. There’s definitely a keeper there. Never seen a Celtic keeper face so many disorganised set pieces and a error prone midfield. For a young keeper to come in to a new team you need big players around him, there is no one in our team right now doing that. Brown, Duffy, Calmac to an extent none picking the team up, none showing leadership, none showing any sort of passion. Why that is I don’t know we can just speculate (obvious fingers point to obvious places) but at the moment there is a real toxic vibe within our squad and coaching staff, sadly this is seeping to the fans. It’s horrible to watch much like the terrible football we’re having to watch because of it.

 

Please, do tell me after an entire summer of us chasing him, Forster not returning any calls from Lennon and rejecting a loan to buy move to us why he would rejoin us?

Can we say with any certainty what happened in the summer and would that permanently rule out a move?

Anyway, the hope is that either Barkas or Bain step up to the mark by then anyway. What is for certain is that we are in a weaker position in the goalkeeper position compared to last season at this moment.

He will. The boy needs time, but he will show his ability.

 

I think he could do with having a cracker of a game. Boost his confidence and come out of his shell more. Confidence in football is massive

 

The boys as nervous as a kitten , came to a big club and then see's that * show of a defence in front of him , must be wondering * !!!


ps , pretty sure I saw Laxalt take his glasses out his shorts at one point , he probably cant believe how poor we are at the back either .

There's nothing wrong with him, but I do miss having a keeper that can change games by pulling off worldies. We've never punched above our weight in Europe without that. I can't think of a single season where we did.

 

The confidence has been low because of the system and players available. Barkas hasn't shown anything spectacular thus far but none of the goals were his fault last night.

The change of system along with a run of domestic victories should sort this out. It would be a mistake to replace him with Bain at this stage.

 

I thought that, first time he was tested just 14 mins in ( like against the scum 8 mins ) and another deflected header he seemed to recoil from contact with the ball, falling backwards. Just looked so awkward.
