I agree with the overrated comment. The fuss when he came in, it was like the return of Van Dijk or something.

However as bad as yesterday was, a couple of the reactions are ridiculous. Wanting him gone ASAP? * up.

Aye definitelt don’t want him gone, but he’s not someone that can lead the backline and be a gamechanger. I’d give Ajer a go in the middle of the back 3 with Bitton and Hatem either side. Or even Welsh on the right, boy looks solid and keeps it simple.

What system do Ireland play? By all accounts he's rock solid for them.

He was unlucky for the 2nd goal. Brilliant block at Goldsons first attempt.

Seemed to think he had generally more time on the ball, and he'll realise that now.

Still think he'll be vital this season.

With no fans you would think the "man on" shouts would have helped him out. That was such schoolboy stuff.

He's a last ditch defender who likes heedering the baw, but a very limited footballer, he's good enough for our level. but not seeing him as a big improvment, as experienced he is, none of that experience is winning anything. I actually rate Jullien better than him, and i've thought we were robbed paying 7 mill for him.

That set the tone for him and probably us as a team..

He was panicky for the whole game after that..

No disrespect to Ireland, but they’re a national team who are going to be going toe to toe with some very average national teams and plying backs to the wall against most decent sides. I say that as a Scotland fan and we would be in the exact same boat (would probably be very decent in a Steve Clarke Scotland team actually).

For us, he was always going to be asked to do something he’s simply not comfortable doing - playing expansive football from the back, and pushing a high line. He’s good in the air but beyond that I’m really not seeing it. Ultimately we needed another centre half so I’m glad he’s here, but he’s clearly 4th choice for me, and that’s discounting guys like El Hamed at CB and Welsh. Saying that I would probably have him in vs Aberdeen and the like, who play a much more direct style.

It was very telling how much time on the ball Sevco gave out defenders yesterday, particularly Duffy. I always think it’s kind of telling when the opposition basically invite you to do something because they don’t believe you can.

Didn't think he'd solve all our problems, however I thought he'd be much better than what he's shown so far.

    He’s not.

People on here just overrate anyone who’s Irish. Same * who have been creaming themselves at the thought of signing James McClean for about 6 year.

    Elhamed
    Bitton
    Ajer
    Jullien

    All fat superior than Duffy.

As I said before, there’s a reason * Brighton were punting him. About 6th choice CB at Brighton now but we’ve got people celebrating him coming on loan because he’s from Derry.

    He’s a complete haddy.

They let him have the ball becsuse they know hes bang average with it.

I wanted him here because he should be a leader and add strength to the backline, not because of his ability on the ball, so I cant really moan.

Nevertheless he needs to keep it simple.

During all the hype on facebook i asked hope he is as good as you all say and this is not just because he is irish.Well i got jumped on for daring to ask, honestly i had no idea and was looking to be reassured about the guy.
Have to say so far the hype does not match the player, hope he gets better.

I think the signing of Duffy was fine. The hype was ridiculous but we needed another centre back, and in theory one that wouldn’t be bullied.

I would expect him to play vs Aberdeen because they’re going to go direct to Cosgrove and that’s Duffy’s bread and butter. Against most of the SPFL though, or in Europe, we simply have far better options. Julien and Ajer are simply much better, and Bitton is much more effective in the system we play.

According to him we are paying his full wage which is reputed to be £40k. We simply can't afford to be spunking that kind of money on a player who should be at best 3rd choice in their position.

It's exactly the same as Boyata. Other teams make them take possession of the ball because they're * footballers. Majstoravic, Balde, Hendry and plenty of others have been the same.

You want control of football matches, you need good footballers. Bitton, Jullien and Ajer are just fine. Silly signing was Duffy.

His goal against St Mirren could end up paying for itself by the time the season is finished and I guarantee he has more good performances than he has performances like he had yesterday.
