Reckon he would have gotten one or two more had he not had his hip problems too.

He’s lost in the Final of the Australian 5 times so he was definitely good for a few more.

3 Slams, a Tour Finals and 2 Olympic gold medals isn’t to be sniffed at however, never mind his inspired Davis Cup victory in 2015 which would have never been but for him. 11-0 he was in that Tournament.

He’s also still the only player, male or female, to win 2 golds.

Yes Murray was unlucky not to win another 2 GS Singles titles. But considering how very tough the era he found himself in he had a pretty dam good career. :50:

I feel more sad about the way Juan Martin Del Potro's career has been ruined by injury. I think he had at least two more slam wins in him if he had been able to stay healthy. At one stage it looked like he might turn the top 4 into the top 5.

To be perfectly honest, I think a very strong argument could be made for Murray being one of the very best to ever play the sport. He’s just been unlucky to have played in the same era as the best three to ever do so. If it wasn’t for those three, who knows how many slams and titles he would have won :39:

Even with those three around, his hip injury came at such a devastating time when he was right at the very top of his game. I’ve got no doubt at all he’d have won a few more.

Murray winning Wimbledon cemented his place in British tennis history, granted he could've won more slams, but the guy has had a pretty good career.

Kyrgios called him one of the greatest players ever, on an interview I watched on YT earlier. 46 career titles, 3 of them grand slams, 3 Olympic medals, a Davis Cup win, a Tour Finals win and having been ranked as No.1 in the world. That we're sad he didn't win more slams is a testament to how much ability he has. * love the guy, I must have watched his slam win highlights about 50 times by now.

I always think with Murray that if he had the physical frame and the altered mentality a wee bit earlier than he ended up finding it, he’d have had a good few Slams under his belt before he ended up winning the US.

He was always gangly and far too interested in looking for excuses in his earlier years.

Murray is a Great Player and the 4th best on the planet in the last 15 years.
To be the 4th Best Player in any 15 year slice or indeed 10 year slice in Open Tennis history is a very good feat. He did that in the hardest era.
And goes without saying very unlucky not to have an Aussie Open under his belt.

Fortress Roland Garros for Nadal. Absolutely incredible sporting legacy that will never be even close to being matched.

The much respected Tennis Gold had a big poll of the Top 10 Open Era Players ever after the French Open.
Federer just held to number one!!
Nadal by a whisker number 2
    Bjorn Borg
