He didn't but from memory trying to get one was seen as the biggest motivator for leaving us.

Hard to begrudge him following his dreams.

Again from memory he always put a shift in for us and was exciting to watch. Wish he'd stayed longer but no complaints.

I have zero sympathy for him.

We gave him EVERYTHING. We took him from relative obscurity to a champions League player, starring for one of Europe's biggest clubs, tens of thousands of adoring fans singing his name week in week out.

Unfortunately for us and especially him it went to his head. To the point were he claimed he was going to be playing for Barca.

He was always going to leave us but his refusal to sign a new contract and at least get us a decent fee always irked me.

He ended up at * Norwich... Norwich, signing for relegation fodder with a system in no way designed to accommodate him.

He was told, he was warned. He didn't listen.

    Sorry Gary. Enjoy India.

Probably but perhaps that wasn't on the cards. Might have been his only option.

    What a fall from grace.

I thought he was a great striker for us.

The stokes + Hooper partnership was fantastic for us, both brought out the best of each other

I'll be honest I was never really a fan of Stokes. Didn't rate him that highly although he did a job for us..

Hooper was genuinely class, even on his own, Europe, Hunskelper etc..

Think Stokes only really worked with Hooper, whenever he was by himself he was usually pish.

Would kill for a Hooper like striker tbh, might sound crazy but under the right manager I honestly think Ajeti could be that player.

Gary’s record for us was also pretty good to say he didn’t play in our most successful trophy team at the time, striker ive liked watching the most play for us since the O’Neill days

Celtic tried to re-sign Gary Hooper according to the former striker's agent but "it just didn't quite work out".

The Englishman spent three seasons at Parkhead between 2010 and 2013, scoring 82 goals in 138 games.

Hooper won two SPL titles and also lifted the Scottish Cup twice in his time with Celtic, before sealing a move to Norwich.

Currently turning out for Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League, the striker could have returned north of the border according to his former agent.

William Glavin said on the Celtic State of Mind podcast: "Gary loved his time at Celtic.

"There have been a couple of occasions over the years when he could’ve been back but it just didn’t quite work out.

Some people tried to do it I remember a few years back actually and it didn’t quite work out.

Neil Lennon was always a big fan of him.

"Neil Lennon tried to get him at Bolton, when he was there – just couldn’t do it at that time.”

Don't disagree but the manager is not 100% to blame. It's clear as day ajeti is no where near fit enough. Needs a very strong pre-season

He’d have been a club legend if he stayed with the amount of goals he would have scored.

    Thought he knew better though.
