No need for international football whatsoever at present, yes I understand he has likely to have came into contact with covid here but international Football surely doesn’t need playing at present surely it’s increasing the risk players plying there trade throughout the world etc all meeting up , the travelling etc I could go on. Be all & End all it should not be going ahead.

Arguing about the length of quarantine periods seems pretty pointless.

Whether it's 10 days or 14 days, he won't be playing in the game on the 17th.

Fingers crossed the big man makes a quick recovery and none of the rest of our squad have it.

International Football should've been binned for 12-18 months.

Hope. He's okay, thinking selfishly, I hope it.aint about the squad.

As others have said, this won't be last of this rearing it's head.

So much easier to manage European football. Your full team has been testing regularly, you travel together and stay together. Then you test when you get back.

International football you’ve got * coming from all over from different situations, something’s bound to happen.

Keeping internationals going was always going to be a cluster *. More short sighted bullshit putting players from different bases all into one big risky covid pot luck.

    Disgrace.

The Euros got postponed so can’t get my head around why Internationals are still being played. It’s hard enough trying to get a season finished domestically without that nonsense.

Inevitable it was going to happen to some of our players at some point.

Get well big fella, your health always comes first.

We still have enough in the squad to take care of business.

Celtic were left reeling on Tuesday night after striker Odsonne Edouard became the latest Scottish football star to be struck down by Covid-19.

Record Sport understands Edouard tested positive for coronavirus yesterday after travelling home to team up with the French under 21 squad on Monday.

At this stage Parkhead bosses believe the 22-year-old is the only member of Neil Lennon's squad to have caught the virus - with the rest of his team mates understood to have posted negative tests since Sunday’s 2-0 win at St Johnstone.

Three of Edouard’s team mates - Greg Taylor, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie - are currently with the Scotland squad at their Edinburgh HQ as Steve Clarke’s men gear up for a crunch Euro 2020 semi-final play-off against Israel on Thursday night.

But there is no suggestion that any of them have contracted the disease with club sources suspecting Edouard may have picked it up during the journey to the French national HQ at Clarefontaine, 50km south west of Paris.

The 22-year-old was expected to lead the line for his country in games against Liechtenstein on Thursday night and Slovakia next Monday before returning to Scotland to prepare for the first Old Firm derby of the season on October 17.

But on Tuesday night Celtic’s top brass were holding urgent talks with government health officials to determine whether or not the player will now have to go into a two week quarantine in his homeland before he is given the green light to travel back to Glasgow.

And that could leave Lennon without his talisman for the eagerly anticipated visit from Rangers a week on Saturday.

Celtic issued a statement last night. It read: “We can confirm that Odsonne Edouard has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty with France U21.

“As it stands, no other Celtic player has returned a positive test.

“Our thorough testing programme will continue and we will continue to follow all protocols."

A French FA statement said: “Odsonne Édouard will not participate in the France-Liechtenstein and France-Slovakia Espoirs matches, counting for the qualifiers for Euro 2021.

“The result of his Covid-19 test carried out by UEFA this Tuesday morning, October 6 having been positive, Odsonne Edouard was sidelined from the group upon receipt of the results, at the end of training . He was then placed in isolation.”

Just waiting on Kris Boyd to say Rangers should be awarded a 3 nil win.
This is the danger of international football and I think further into the season, with more cases called on international duty more clubs will refuse to let players go.

Having international football during this pandemic is a complete joke.Clubs are struggling to survive and some with depleted enough squads without their players travelling around the world risking catching Covid or injuries. We’re equipped enough to cope with this but the majority of other clubs are not.
