Weird hearing a golf clap at a football game.

Barcelona seem to be shipping more players out than coming in, at least it feels that way.

    IN:
Pjanic, Trincao, Fernandes, Pedri, promotion of Araujo from the B squad as well seems the major ins.

    OUT:
Vidal, Rakitic, Cucurella, Perez, Semedo, Arthur and rumoured Suarez.

4 going on 5 first team players out, arguably only 1 first team player brought in - 2 if we count Trincao.

Seems a big ask of them to challenge for the title this season. They certainly need to shift Umititi out the door for me and bring in someone of a much higher calibre at the back.
Up top they will need to replace Suarez if he is off, no chance you rely on Braithwait if you are a serious title contender and want to push for the CL as well.

Great signing. Suarez is a perfect fit for Atletico, Simeone will definitely the best out of him

2-1 at half time for Betis-Madrid

Good game so far, both teams up for it and want the win, Betis looking the better side imo.

I thought Barca looked really good as well, looked like a normal team for once in about 3 year. Plenty of options in attack and around the box, were passing it well and had guys in good positions in defence and attack. Felt like they over complicated things for a few seasons trying to play Messi deeper.

De Jong had a shocker though, the amount of times he gave the ball away or got it took off him in his own half. Everyone else done well.

Sounds like they aren't going to use Puig much who was probably their best midfielder last season, should try him in De Jong's position, probably more creative, can run with a ball better and a little bit sharper than De Jong.

Yeah a much much better performance than most of last season. Team looked more structured and as @ILoveTheCeltic says, almost like they werent relying on Messi to touch the ball in every attacking play.

Looking forward to seeing more of Pjanic, think him with De Jong could be a really interesting midfield with Countinho playing in front of them in the number 10.

4231 is a bit dated now-a-days, but it still has it's place and I think it may be good for helping Barcelona step away from the DM role being so deep and the focus being on Messi.

Fati the other night was brilliant, going to see a lot of him this season I think, with next being a main starter.

Fati does look the real deal, can beat guys for fun and score goals, he'll probably be first choice all season if he stays fit. Can still tell he's not fully there physically but in a couple of years will likely be as good as anyone on the left.

The boy they brought on Pedri was only 17 as well, was built like a rake and never really touched the ball much but he must be highly thought of as well as they were talking like Koeman is a big fan of him and rated him as better than Puig.

Pjanic will offer them better depth with the two deeper midfielders, Arthur they let go I liked but I seen why they sold him as he done heehaw in attack and he didn't defend either. Although he looked like Xavi at holding a ball under pressure and turning people and playing short passes thats all he really offered.

I think Arthur would have been more ideal in the formation we saw the other night rather than that more typical Barca we saw the last 12 years or so.

Pjanic will add a lot more experience either way though and think for the next 3 years they have a better player in Pjanic than Arthur, but Arthur had room to improve still, so who knows how good he will become.

Barcelona really need to sort that defence out though, need a new RB and a new CB before the window closes.

Messi looked to put things to bed regarding the summers carry on, with yesterdays interview.
Wonder if he is aware of more changes coming that he approves, or just wants to score a line under it at present?

2-0 up with a man down against Celta at present, Fati scores as does Messi (may go down as an OG though)

    3-0 Messi again.

Checking for offside, looks on to me.

3-0 Roberto rifles the ball in the roof of the net after a great bit of play from Messi.

    Full time.

Barcelona looking good on their return, two good wins for sure. 1pt off top, game in hand (two against some teams) and looking the best team so far for me.

Mad how quickly they went from a team that looked a mess and wide open to now looking solid and playing normal football at a high level. Wee bit like Arsenal's turnaround under Arteta.

Aye, I do not think any of them were playing for Quique last year.
Not sure how on board Messi is with Koeman, but was he not offered the job prior to Quique and knocked it back for not wanting to take it mid season? So I imagine a lot of the players will be more willing to play under Koeman at this stage.
That mentality shift and the formation change - although small - has certainly seen them click again.
