    First day in gym since lockdown. Still trained during lockdown, weights, running, sit ups and stuff. Thought I had maintained strength, but today was an eye opener shoulders and chest way weaker than before :(. Good to be back though

    I know the feeling mate, hard going but worth it. Beats any gym work out.

    Been doing a 10k outdoor circuit most days, walking a bit then jogging a bit. Can feel my fitness improving but struggling to run any decent distance, maybe need to slow my pace down. Slower pace but hopefully longer distance.

    Hopefully the gyms stay open, can’t be arsed with another time out.

    Walk On
    I take my hat off to you guys. I have just handed in 7 pairs of trousers and some shirts to Shelter as I have went from a 32 waist to about a 36 waist. I have dodgy knees so can't do any running or even walking any great distance and have suspended my gym membership during Covid. I keep saying I am going to get fit again and go on a diet but it's just not happening. Any suggestions on how to get my * in gear?

    I've put on hunners of weight since first lockdown man but still been training pretty consistently. Managed a sub 20 min 5k the other week and a new pb for chest press (65kg) miss having abs but loads of folk have said I was too skinny before and look healthier. Really enjoying trying to lift more or run quicker and see measurable progress, think if I can control my diet I'll be grand.

    Went for a run this morning, got about 10 yards and eff that, sheet ice everywhere. Under normal circumstances would just run in the gym instead but that’s closed for the good of our health!

    @carraigbhoy

    An ab wheel rollout is a better option, cheap too , hard if you haven't done them before but start off first doing them from the knees and progress up to doing them from your toes.

    Them , planks , side planks , weighted planks , planks for time try beat your time each workout are far superior.

    Also , you can start with a larger wheel , then progress down to a smaller wheel which is harder.

    Gyms are shut, streets are like glass, haven't seen a gritter around my area once. Lot of folk's mental and physical health taking an absolute pounding. If I go a walk an some polis * asks me where I'm going will end up in the jail.

    The road's have been putting me off my runs as well..

    Even the apparatus near me is through a big field that's either iced or muddy and wet as *....plus all the stuff is then freezing and wet if you get past that..

    Definitely gives you less motivation..

    Got a new pair of walking boots delivered the day, went for another pair of Merrell, last ones lasted me brilliant, fair few hundred miles and a few munros. Off a couple days next week so hopefully get out somewhere, going off my nut sitting in. * hate this time of year, with the light nights I'd be typically doing maybe 20 to 50 miles a week. Doing * all the now.

    *, I'm knackered just thinking about that. Seriously, I started a diet last Sunday and I am struggling already. I used to go to the gym 2 - 3 times a week but haven't been for months now and my waist has went from 32 to 36 inches. My knees are gubbed which means I can't do any running so, any suggestions on how to both keep my diet going and how to get fit?
