No Jock, Hamish or Campbell? Must be Sassenachs.

Some of the names are mental. I also seen this on that page.

The 10 Glasgow place names only Glaswegians know how to pronounce

    https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/...oola&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=exchange

I'm not sure who writes this stuff :56:

    Milngavie
Yes, the beautiful north Glasgow spot and leafy suburb of 'Millen-gavvy'.

I have never heard it called 'Millen-gavvy'.

    Lambhill
Another North Glasgow name, Lambhill, popped up in your responses a few times - are people getting a little continental and pronouncing it 'La Mill'?

I live in Lambhill & have never heard this 'La Mill' :56::56:

Names like those tell you everything you need to know about the parents. Stay classy.

Think it’s Scandinavia where they need permission from the government to name their children certain things :giggle1:

Saves a poor wean growing up with a name like Rubix Cube or Sandcastle.

Yea think it’s in Iceland where you need government approval before choosing a name.

The best / worst one I’ve ever seen was Le-a

    Pronounced “Ledasha” :giggle1:

    Just, naw.
    * are at it with that *.

Think Germany I heard one time (could he false) that they can only select a name from a pool of names allowed.

Also, Glasgow live website, what a load of tabloid pish that site really is. From sports to this nonsense.

As a general rule I don't want Government/bureaucracy to get involved in our private lives etc but some people really are in need of help it seems.

I'm sure this is true Garry. The very first person on the planet to be called Gary(Garry) was the old actor Gary Cooper. He called himself that after the place where he was born and bred.

Many years ago as a studen I went out with the district nurse on her rounds. There were people naming their kids Pochahontis!
