    He's a massive Tim and goes to game's now and then. I've no doubt he'd personally want the move..

    Difference with Duffy is, he signed a long term deal under Hughton (I think) and isn't in favour with Potter's style of play. Hodgson signed McCarthy last season and he played quite well..

    He was one of a couple of names I thought of the other day as an example of a guy who would be a bit like a MON signing. When O'Neill signed the likes of Thompson, Sutton & Lennon we didn't get players who had the potential to improve, but we got players who improved the starting XI straight away. On top of that, they brought a lot of experience and improved the mentality of the side.

    I quite like the idea of us getting in a Duffy and a McCarthy and maybe another who just add a bit of quality and experience and you know they can do a job for a good few years before you have to replace them. The failure from the MON era was failing to plan ahead and replace these guys, and giving them huge contracts. You'd hope we'd learned lessons from that but you never know with Celtic.

    CELTIC EYEING MCCARTHY
    Celtic need new life and purpose injected into their squad in 2021 and the club are working hard on a recruitment plan to land James McCarthy.

    They have long-admired the Crystal Palace midfielder and feel his style of play and enthusiasm could help invigorate the side, who currently trail Rangers by 16 points.

    McCarthy grew up as a Celtic supporter and is aware of the interest. Sources say he would be keen on the move as he is currently not figuring for Palace in the Premier League.

    In order to bring in McCarthy though, Celtic need to make space in the squad and free up some cash. It is believed they will consider selling Olivier Ntcham, while the club also have a decision to make over striker Odsonne Edouard, with a couple of Premier League club showing interest.

    I have watched this guy closely and he has been rank for ROI.
    Maybe he could offer something against SPL dross??
