It's traceable through your IP address and data protection wouldn't matter if your activity is breaking the law. But they'd have to go through your ISP to monitor your activity and I'm sceptical of how much effort they'd put into trying to discover that. Though I don't know what their methods are other than sending letters to any address that doesn't have one.

Just had a quick google and an article mentioned 50 people were sent to prison in for not paying it, then not paying the court ordered fine. That's mental, but I also saw another article dated February that says it could become decriminalised.

I like a lot of the content the BBC produces and it's cheap as * so I don't mind paying it, but I'd have no issue with a new model where it's funded by advertising and other revenue streams.

It’s easier for me because I live in a block of flats that is basically a maze. The postie can’t get here at the best of times, so there’s not chance the TV licensing bloke is finding me :giggle1:

That's a live TV broadcast eg. The Champions League Final that was on YouTube last week.

If a MUA is doing a livestream of her favourite new eye shadow that will absolutely change your life, then you don't need a licence to watch that

Snoopers charter will allow TV Licencing (Capita) access to your ISP data, no doubt. Get yourself a decent VPN provider like Nord or Windscribe and avoid that possibility.

They're purposefully vague though to make people think they need one.

Why should the BBC get a fee for BT Sport's giving out their live product for consumption on YouTube ? And how is it any different from any other content creator putting out their live product on YouTube?

It's mental that it's even still a thing in 2020.

Aye exactly mate, found myself reading it twice just to make sure as the wording is so ambiguous.

Totally agree with you. As I said, I've no issue with a public funded tv body and I like a lot of BBC content, but if people don't use it then they shouldn't need to pay for it.

Anything without my name on it goes in the bin, have never paid it, whether I was on the tap dancer or on the ground where I am the now. Don't know many who do tbh. Scam.
