Aston Villa have reportedly made contact with Scottish champions Celtic over £40million-rated striker Odsonne Edouard.

The French forward is attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League with Arsenal and Leicester City - who are managed by former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers - said to be keen on signing him.

Edouard, 22, joined Celtic from PSG for £10million in 2018 and he's bagged 40 goals in 48 Scottish Premier League starts.

He netted 28 goals across all competitions last season and scored a hat-trick in Celtic's opening day win over Hamilton at the weekend.

And, according to a report in The Sun, Villa have asked Celtic about the availability of Edouard. The report adds that Celtic 'are determined to keep him'.

Villa are desperately in need of attacking reinforcements after ending the season as one of the Premier League's lowest scorers.

If we sold Edouard and didn’t win the 10 then the board would never ever be forgiven by the fans.

There should be no suggestion of selling eddy this season.we shouldnt be entertaining any offers .if he eventually goes to the super duper English premier league he will have the same impact on that league as van dijk had

He will stay with us for this season.....I hope.

If he rips it up this season and wins the 10 he will leave a legend and get the same deals a year from now.

He is just warming up here.

I get what you mean but it is certainly not the image I'm picturing.

Either way I chuckled at the thought of you placing Mars bars on the head of Lawwell and then proceeding to batter them with your throbbing angry saveloy.

Unfortunately if Eddy wants to go the board can't do much. I just hope he wants the 10

I kind of disagree with this. I'm old fashioned so I'd be like 'you're not going, end of, deal with it...but (and here comes the golden carrot) you can 100% go next season..a legend'. I think that approach would work..and if he sulks (and I don't think he would to be honest) well then plonk him in the reserves (as that's the same as selling him). Anyway, i think he'll stay and if he doesn't...can I add some bags of dog poo to those Mars bars lol?

I'd renew my seat and spend the whole close season practising throwing Mars Bars.

This, same happened with KT - it's the players choice nowadays.

I think that signing a contract with no intention of honouring it is a disgrace, quite frankly.

I guarantee that a player would expect the club uphold its end of the agreement if he were to suffer a career-ending injury tomorrow.

It often suits a club to sell before the end of the contract, as we know, so it kinda works both ways. I would hazard a guess that most contracts are seen out but for those players in demand most won't be.

As for the injury if a club/player dont have themselves insured then that is a poor choice - although there are a few genuine reasons for that not being possible admittedly.

If the transfer money is good I’m afraid it’s goodbye Eddie, we just can’t compete with the EPL wage

    I understand what you're meaning Vert but it's a 2-way street.

If the club decides a bid is acceptable and the player doesn't want to move then they can freeze them out of squads and make them feel uncomfortable about staying.

Hutton knocked back Spurs when they bid £9m and Murray shat it and thought his big payday was going up in smoke, told him he'd be going or would be bombed out.

McGeady for us was brought into Lennon's office and persuaded to make the move to Spartak as Lennon had been told he could only buy players once we got money in for McGeady.

I think we need to get used to clubs being linked, whether true or not. Media will not ease up on this.

Especially once players start moving down south and elsewhere, these stories will gather pace, and we have until * October to listen to it all!

Praying he is our player for the duration this season, gonna be a nerve jangler this.
