I’d be interested to see his teams Goal scoring averages in both spells for us, just dishes out thumpings left right and centre

Really love the team Neil Lennon has put together and with him in charge you know there will be no chance of complacency. My only cticism of him today and its one that can be level a lot managers...Why leave it so late to make substitutions when we are already 4-1 up. Give the likes of Karamoko and Klimala more than 8 minutes its just not enough time to show what they can do. Maybe this isnt the best time to say this because I know Klimala scored but in normal circumstances its not enough time, they should be getting at 15 minutes minimum. If its a tight game then thats different but when were 4-1 up? Come on Lenny unleash those subs they're all fired up to make an impact.

thought the same, but given everything that’s went on I would imagine he wants to get minutes in the legs of the preferred starting 11 at this point. As we go, I would expect us making changes on the hour if we are up by a couple of goals.

NEIL Lennon was delighted to see his side get their league campaign off to a winning start, with an Odsonne Edouard hat-trick helping the Hoops to a 5-1 win over Hamilton Accies.

The Celtic manager was pleased with the win, in what was his side’s first competitive match since March 7. They hit five that day against St Mirren and they did so again today (Sunday).

Speaking after the game, the Hoops boss said: “I thought we were a bit too passive for my liking in the first half but in the second half the team gave me everything that I wanted. There was real pace and power about us, we scored some great goals and generally we had good control of the game as well.

“To win the game as convincing as that is great because you’re going a little bit into the unknown. We’ve been out for so long in terms of competitive games and you’re going to get a bit of rust there in getting the match rhythm, but I thought in the second half in particular, we were superb.

“There were a lot of good things in the game. There are a lot of things we still need to work on and improve on, but that’s totally understandable for where we are at the minute but, in general, I’m absolutely delighted with that.”

Edouard hit 28 goals last season and he’s already up and running with a treble in the opening game, emphasising again his quality and importance to the team. His manager, not surprisingly, was delighted with the Frenchman’s contribution, while he was also pleased to see Patryk Klimala score his first competitive goal for the club after coming on as a later substitute for the hat-trick hero.

“His finishes were great because they’re a striker’s goals,” the manager said. “Sometimes you think of Odsonne scoring brilliant individual goals, but today he got across the near post on one, while the first one was a tap-in. And that’s another thing he’s adding to his game – the volume of goals as well as all-round great play, but as a team we looked vibrant, we looked strong and there was a lot of power in the team today.

“They were great deliveries for the goals. It’s something that we all work on, the combination plays, and the final ball was there, but you’ve got to be in there to score them as well. The goal where Jamesy broke down the right – he showed great pace and power, it was a great ball in and a great finish.

“What you’ve seen with Patryk is that he showed some physical power as well today, which is something he’s worked on himself. He’s hungry and he’s showed great pace to get away and it was a great finish. I’m thrilled for him, he totally deserves it and it was a great way to finish off what was a really good performance.”

FOLLOWING last weekend’s impressive 5-1 win over Hamilton at Paradise, Celtic travel to Kilmarnock this Sunday to play Alex Dyer’s Kilmarnock.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon expects an entirely different contest in Ayrshire against a well-organised opponent, and likewise savours a full week of preparation ahead of his side’s first away day of the 2020/21 campaign.

“Kilmarnock have been a great story over the past couple of years,” said the manager in an exclusive interview with th Celtic View. “There has been a bit of transition with the playing staff. I know Alex very well, he’s a very good manager, a great coach, and Kilmarnock away has always been tough.

“We’ll have to adapt accordingly to the conditions, it’s good to have a week to prepare for it, so we’ll get a bit of rest, and come midweek, we’ll be really focused again on what we need to do.

“We had a good result at Rugby Park back in January, we played really well, we had to, and I think this game will be no different again. We’ll focus our minds, we’ll play to the conditions, and will handle the opposition as we need to.”

Reflecting on last Sunday’s emphatic Flag Day win, Neil Lennon was especially pleased with his players’ second half performance – having entered the break 2-1 up, and having returned with three goals without reply in the second period.

He added: “I’m delighted with how they responded at half-time, I’m really, really pleased. At times, when you’ve been away from the game for a while, you can be a bit lethargic. We talk about a second wind, where your legs are a bit heavy and then they come again, and I think we experienced that on Sunday.

“Getting that match rhythm, getting our legs going again, that was a real plus point from the game as well. We looked good, playing with intent and pace and power.

"I wouldn’t say we played tentative in the first half, but maybe playing a little too safe, playing their way into the game. Defensively, we could have done a little bit better, but in the second half we tidied that right up.”

NL on #STJABE: "It’s obviously a very unfortunate incident and has some serious ramifications for the game. It’s a reminder to all the players and the staff that we have to be on our guard all of the time and follow the protocols in the right way."

NL: "We made our players aware again this morning. They really can’t go out and socialise and open ourselves up to any finger-pointing. It’s basically a case of: home, training, home, games. Unfortunately, that’s the way it’s got to be until things get better.

NL: "I think the players here have in the main been excellent. They’ve had two rounds of testing now for the last six/seven weeks and, thankfully, they’ve all come back negative. Whatever they’re doing, they’re doing the right things."

NL: "We’ve had a long layoff from football. Nobody wants that and we certainly don’t want to go back to that. The country has handled the situation as well as anyone possibly could have. We’ve opened up a little bit and have to be careful we don’t have any more spikes.

NL on #CelticFC injuries: "Greg Taylor is a little bit ginger on the ankle but he trained today. Leigh Griffiths has a calf strain

NL on Kilmarnock: "I thought they were unfortunate to lose the game, they had a lot of possession against Hibs. We know that Rugby Park as a venue is a difficult place to go, really difficult."

NL: "Alex [Dyer] is a very good coach. He’s got that foundation that Steve built up. They’re a team I respect, they’ve got solid players and tactically they’re difficult to break down."

    Neil Lennon reckons Scottish
football earning two Champions League spots next season is a major shot in the arm for our game.

But the Celtic boss has urged
his players to grab the chance to showcase their skills in the
group stage this term and
enhance the club’s reputation
on the biggest stage.

Despite Rangers exit from the Europa League on Thursday, their impressive run and the Hoops’ fine form in the competition in the
last two campaigns has ensured the Premiership top two will earn places at Europe’s top table. It comes a decade after Scotland’s lowly coefficient ranking cost the country
one of the lucrative spots.

Lennon was speaking on the eve of the draw for
the first of four qualifiers
the Hoops face this season.

But that arduous road to the group stage could be
cut in half for Scotland’s
champions from next term
if Basel lose to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League quarter-final.

They would go straight into the third qualifying round and Lennon said: “It’s
fantastic that Scotland will have two Champions League places from next season.

It’s great news and the champions - hopefully us - only play three qualifying rounds instead of four (two if Basel lose).

It has been a long time
and a much-needed boost for the country and testament to how well the teams have done in Europe of late.”

Lennon wants to make sure Celtic are in this year’s group stage after the calamitous defeat to Cluj last term.

    And there is the added
factor of high wire one-leg ties until the play-off round, tricky travel arrangements for away games due to Covid and matches without fans.

    He said: “You’ve got to
negotiate difficult qualifying rounds and they come early but you know the rewards
at the end of it. We’re waiting to see what the draw brings and with them being one-leg ties, the more home games we can get, the better

At least if you get a
home tie, there’s a familiarity with protocols and the
environment. But it’s one
leg, we have to get it right
on the night whether it’s home or away.

“It is two years we have missed out on the group stage and we would dearly love to have it back. For the players, it is an opportunity to enhance their careers, the reputation of the club and their own reputations.

It would be fantastic to accomplish that and it is not beyond us. We know how
difficult it is and we’re looking forward to the challenge.

    “It is a blue-riband event.
It is fantastic to play in it. It also makes you a better player, a better coach.”

    He should be embarrassed..

Didn't have a clue on the touchline..

Didn't make a sub or change till the 65th minute..

Trying to be cute changing a formation that skelped them last year and then trying to bring it back with 25 to go. Pathetic..

Well there’s no margin for error now until we play the Huns. The defence are glaringly weak. He better be thinking out a way to fix it or else this ain’t gonna end well..

Really poor from him today, get a striker who can play with eddy and go back to 352 if certain players can't play that system then tough.

Him and Kennedy looked clueless as the game went on.

Took too long to make any changes.

He got it wrong today. You could tell by half time, * the half hour mark, that our formation wasnt working. Needs to get the finger out and get another ST and CB signed.
