£7.2m for Toney seen somewhere!

 

We could end up with both Lenny comments about having plans in place and keeping wheels moving about sales and development have me slightly alarmed

As is being discussed in Toney’s thread, the money that it would take to sign a guy who has only shone for a couple of seasons in League 1 is mental. It would be a massive gamble.

A loan for Ajeti with the option to buy would be ideal.

 

With a view to Eddy going next summer hopefully..

That would leave 5 strikers with Bayo going on loan..

From what I've seen, Toney looks like he could maybe play wide as well but we'll see..

If we signed both then we're deffo gearing up to go 2 up top most week's..

We clearly want Toney though. No sure if he's first or second choice but Strachan is no doubt glowing in his praise about him..

I wouldn't be totally against both coming in. Although I think its it's unrealistic unless Eddy is off. Only way I see 2 in is if Ajeti or Toney come in with a Steven Fletcher type..

 

Don't think Ajeti was ever as close as reported.

 

There doesn't seem to be much movement on a centre half, unless I'm missing speculation from somewhere?

 

With Bayo leaving whether it's on loan or permanent we definitely must be bringing someone in soon

 

Sounds to me as Toney is being lined up to take over from Edoaurd next season. Get him in now and let him settle in and learn of Eddy for a season and it could work well.

 

Big difference for me is attitude between both. Ajeti is stalling on the deal for West Brom? whereas Toney is actively pushing to come here, despite a pretty attractive offer from Brentford. Ability (and price) i'd prefer Ajeti but i quite like the fact Toney is apparently pushing to come here

 

The big problem with signing any English based player is wages, a big wage to Scottish clubs is a tiny wage in England (most L1 some L2 clubs will be giving average SPFL wages) Then it’s the players mentality of an i in it for money, or am I in it to win things.

 

Dunno if he’s “done it” in Europe and Internationally. He’s played games in both which is great, especially the last 16 run but he wasn’t a big part of it.

I’d rather him over Toney, as long as they don’t move the goalposts on the option to buy.

 

Initially I wanted the Ajeti deal over Toney on the basis, he looked better value at 5 million, is younger and has scored at a higher level but the developments the last couple of days have changed that.

If as you say Toney is actively pushing for the move, whilst Ajeti doesn't fancy it then like you, I would rather have the guy who is desperate to come here over someone who's not arsed. The big stumbling block tho will be the English player inflation factor. He'll cost a pretty penny & for a league 2 player that's a big gamble

The loan to buy for 5m looks perfect on paper but if Ajeti comes here, has a blinder (like we all hope he would do) and other clubs start sniffing around then you just know he'll be the first to go back on the deal.

This would leave only left back to sort and it's a more difficult position to fill, but you'd have until October to come up with someone top drawer.

 

Got to agree think Ajeti would have a bit of the Guidetti about him tbh

 

For all the talk of Ajeti having an attitude or no being right....does Toney no have a bit of an attitude past, or am I getting him mixed up with someone else?

Nile Ranger I think I'm getting him mixed up with. The other young striker that Newcastle released..

 

Toney got 12 yellow cards in 39 games last season, so either he is a * diver or defenders see he is easy to wind up and target him.
