Deal agreed between both clubs and apparently it’s Forster who backed out thanks for confirming lenny at least we know now we need to move on to other targets!

bit of a slap in the face to lenny and Wee Woodsy who rescued him from Newcastle reserves made him an English international then brought him from 3rd choice at Southampton to Celtic!

We don't know what Forster's doubts or reservations are but if it's to get game-time at Southampton then I think he's on to plums. The boy McCarthy had a decent game v City at the weekend.

It should at least put an end to people questioning the club or Lennon about not being pro-active enough to get him back in.

    * from him after the things he said about coming home and wanting to play first team football after so long..

Still don't think the doors completely shut but he's definitely looking elsewhere first..

Aye and that we'd be too tight to go for him when it was already agreed..

I think it’s blatantly obvious it was a loan agreement and he doesn’t want another loan and, truth be told, I understand him completely.

He’s 32 and he’s already been on loan here 3 times. He’s looking for proper stability going into the prime of his career as a goalkeeper and doesn’t want having a parent club at the opposite end of the country hanging over him. We should be pushing the boat out and tieing him down to a 5 year deal. He is the answer to our long term goalkeeping position 100%.

    All IMO anyway.

For me, surely he knows Southampton is a dead hope and even so, he knows he surely is better than them.

I'm not going to be upset if he doesn't come, I can forsee a few reasons why it is stalled at present.

    1. Wants the move to be perm and not a loan, perhaps slowed the talks at this stage (he did say he would take a wage cut, so he alludes to a perm deal being pref)

    2. If Chelsea rumours are true that they sniffed, I wouldn't be upset if he has decided to take a moment to give clubs like Chelsea a chance. Looking at the current league down south is ongoing, may make some sense on his part to at least wait till their season closes to see what clubs are doing what deals.

End of the day, he's still young for a keeper with a solid 4-5 years in him at least at the top level. If bigger clubs than Southampton are sniffing at him in England, I can't blame an English man wanting to see what's what. Specially when a step up to even being number 2/competing at Chelsea would be a decent move and a chance to get back to the England setup

For us though, we do need to take control of our own issues and if he drags this out too long, then we can't be shy to put the ultimatum to him, and/or move on to another target.

Be more upset if we just keep waiting on Fraser, he decides not to come back and we miss out on even Hart and marshal and end up with just Bain.

Would he be willing to take a 50 percent wage cut to come here on a permanent deal ?

NEIL LENNON says the ball is in Fraser Forster's court over a return to Celtic.

The Hoops boss confirmed that a deal was agreed with Southampton to bring the goalkeeper back to Parkhead.

He told Sky Sports: "Well we are looking at other options.

"There was a deal agreed between both the clubs and it's gone quiet from the player's side of things.

Like everything else, we would dearly love him back here.

"But if that's not the case then we'll look elsewhere."

SunSport understands Celts had agreed a 12-month loan deal with the option to buy in the summer of 2021.

But Forster, 32, wants a permanent transfer now to fully settle back in Glasgow for the long-term.

Ex-England and Man City No1 Joe Hart - now a free agent after leaving Burnley - and Wigan's David Marshall are being considered as alternative options.

And Lenny said: "We're looking at a number of options in the goalkeeping front, it's such an important position.

"Fraser did wonderful things for us last season and he's got big gloves to fill.

Ideally we'll try to get another exceptional number one in again."

If the Chelsea stuff is true and they have registered an interest in him, the big man maybe fancies himself up against Kepa, who’s * hopeless
