Was clear as Day. No way was Pete swapping Ntcham for him when he’s valued at £12-£15m.
Take in its very unlikely we would have pulled money back on fraz.
As much as me and the majority think fraz was a must unfortunately the board don’t see it that way. All about the paper

£5 million would be the best £5 million we could possibly spend.

    Worth every single penny.

Pish, if 5m was the price tag it'd be a done deal, they probably think they'll still get 10+ from another english team, and they probably could after the season he had.

If its 5m its a no brainer for me.

I wouldnt even have a problem making him the highest paid player either. He is a difference maker.

He’s worth £10M, I’m sure we could haggle it down to £8M and give them first dibs on Ntcham.

Plus with Jozo, Gordon, Hayes and Bauer off the wage bill then giving him 35K shouldn’t be an issue either.

He’s coming. He’s not. The media’s stories change like the wind.

The Joe Hart and David Marshall rumours and then tonight’s news that the deal is basically dead, I think it’s all negotiation tactics. We clearly want him and Southampton are keen to offload him but Forster still has a couple of years to run on a monstrous contract which is proving to be the obstacle. He isn’t prepared to walk away from millions.

He’s my number 1 pick but I’m confident we will have another solid keeper lined up if this doesn’t come to fruition.

Lawwell is never paying £10m for a 32 year old with no sell-on value. It's never going to happen. Even one as outstanding as Forster.

    £5m then it's a possibility, somewhat begrudgingly.

I don't think it's over - Raman is a Hun lickspittle, so I won't take notice of his opinion - it's just Southampton are playing hardball which they are entitled to do.

The financials of this deal are tricky with him being on a lucrative contract, Southampton wanting him off the wage bill and us not being able to pay anywhere near it. If the deal happens then it'll be further on in the window IMO.

Getting him back even on loan again would be the signing of the summer for us though.

I don't believe anything Raman or Sunsport spout. Still hopeful. I reckon Forster will want to come back so hoping it happens eventually.

Can we not use a sevco payment plan, buy now and pay in instalments over 5 years?... still hopeful we can pull a deal off for him, it’s obvious the big man wants to be here and getting him back should be no 1 priority but we don’t know how much they are asking for him.

Like has been said, a swap with Ntcham would cancel out the transfer fee if it is indeed 10m they are looking for.

    I think it will happen.

I also think La Gran Muralla knows our wage budget and would happily come here for 25/30k a week.

Its happening I can feel it in my bones.

I think he's keen on coming back but I'm not as sure as you that he's willing to write off £60k-65k a week for the pleasure.

The longer the window goes on, if there's no other serious interest then Southampton will bite I think.

If he had 1 year left he may be willing to drop it but 2 years is a lot of money. I do think he will come but I imagine it will be for a loan. I don't think clubs in England will want to match his wages either or pay £10m for Southampton's 3rd choice. After the Elyounoussi loan I am more confident about this loan.

Just get it done. Would let Ntcham go in a heartbeat if it would get the deal over the line.

Ntcham can be class on his day but we don’t see it often enough. Forster is worth far more points to us in a season that Ntcham.

You don’t have the sell on value with Forster but he is probably the difference between getting into the group stages as well which makes the investment a no brainer.
