He is a must sign, but there could be many things holding it back and that could be Southampton or even Forster wanting another full season on 70k a week

Obviously I would rather we got him on a permanent deal but if we need to wait until next summer to do that because of the uncertainty right now about next seasons finances then I would be fine with another season long loan.

Atm Southampton owe him 7mill in wages ,they will want to negotiate a reduced fee for him to go asap ,if we pay 4.5 to 5million to him he walks away and it subsidises his lower wage from us if we give a 3 year deal he is not losing anything , they will be happy he is of the wage bill , they save on wages while he is not in the squad .

Reckon its all down to FF, if he is willing to walk, we will be able to do a deal with Southampton.
So is he willing to walk away from 70K over 2 years to sign for say 35K over 4 years-potentially rotting away in Saints reserves against all the bells and whistles we can offer.

I've never been so confident with someone in goals for penalties.

    He needs to be here.

    Should never have left.

Is the difference on the big stage and could be the difference between last 32 and 16 (or 16 and 1/4 finals depending your outlook on life)

Contract is up in 2022, so hopefully on loan with an option to buy or buy outright since Southampton are looking to offload players and hopefully at a reduced price.

I was watching both Lazio games a few days ago. He was immense in goal, unbelievable saves from the big man.

Should be the absolute number 1 signing priority. Best keeper we have had in the modern era.

Think I remember reading on here that his ratio for pen saves is ~50%.

He's the best goalie we can realistically get.

This is one of the deals that the club have just got to get DONE one way or another. No excuses IMO.

Permanent would be ideal but loan with option to buy would be good as well.

No way we can go back to Bain and Gordon(hopefully he'll be off anyway) from Forster, would prefer him to be bought this window but if it's a loan it's got to have an option to buy.

For him to sign permanently he would have to take a massive wage drop.

What's this about Southampton owing him wages?

Just my opinion but I get the feeling that Forster isn’t all about the money.

He’s made enough cash with Southampton. He enjoys it here, he’s a fan favourite, gets on with Lenny, Brown etc, wins trophies. All of that should mean more than cash alone. He’ll still get a pretty penny with us (25-30k per week)

He isn't all about the money , but he ha a contract that Southampton need to honour, if he says he wants to leave the dynamics change , but they also want him off the wage bill so it becomes a stalemate ,its more about him and Southampton at the moment celtic will be the ones to reduce wot Southampton owe him In wages if they want him away ,so it could be a sit tight and hope no one else comes in .

Being reported Southampton want in excess of £10 million, if that’s true then he won’t be back sadly.
