We could offer him a coaching role when he retires.

I think that he would make an excellent goalkeeping coach: if I recall correctly, he only started playing football in his teens, so he will have a keen sense of his own development as a goalkeeper; and he has years of experience working with a brilliant goalkeeping coach in Stevie Woods.

I'm not sure Stevie Wood is a class goal keeping coach and would rather keep him

Celtic are hopeful they can secure Fraser Forster on a fresh loan deal for next season - according to a report.

The Daily Mail claim the England international is set to have his Southampton future resolved in the next 48 hours as the Hoops eye a Parkhead return.

The keeper rediscovered his best form under Neil Lennon last season after a difficult 18 months at St Mary's where he was left on the outside looking in.

Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn are ahead of him in the Saints pecking order and Celtic are keen to secure the services of The Great Wall once again.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left a telling impact on teams ahead of the transfer market but another short-term deal would make sense for a player who still has two years remaining on his current deal with the Premier League side.

Celtic have Scott Bain under contract until 2023 but uncertainty surrounds the future of Craig Gordon with the Scotland international out of contract but no official word on what's next for the 37-year-old.

Last month, Lennon admitted he would love Forster and fellow Southampton loanee Mo Elyounoussi to return ahead of the new season.

He said: "We’re hopeful they’ll be around but that’s a conversation we’ll have to have with Southampton and with the players individually.

“We’d want to keep them if we could. It keeps that continuity going rather than maybe going out and bringing other players in.

“If we could keep the services of those two, they know how we work and what the club is all about. They made really good contributions. Fraser was absolutely brilliant and Moey, up until the injury, was fantastic.”

In the current covid situation another loan deal with an obligation to buy would be fine

Ideally a season loan with a future fee of £4m due to his age, dont know what % of wages we have been paying , only thing after next year hes only got 1 year left so not much value to Southampton

Will Southampton want to do another loan? as if all reports are to be believed they need players off the wage bill and some money in for them. I would take on loan but doesn't fully help Southampton's situation if that makes sense

Agree with you , just with that article saying another loan , I would prefer we bought him and dont see how/why Southampton would want a loan unless were paying all his current wage which we cant tbh

CELTIC's transfer swoop for keeper Fraser Forster appears to have been given the green light, one report claims.

However, it's not all good news for Hoops fans as Southampton are believed to be keen to hold on to tricky winger Mohamed Elyounoussi.

The Daily Mail say Forster's future will be clarified in the next 48-hours with the Parkhead club hopeful they can secure another loan deal for the Saints goalkeeper who has two-years left on his current deal on the south coast.

The ex-England international was a revelation after returning to Celtic last season.

Neil Lennon drafted in his former goalkeeper last summer to replace both Scott Bain and Craig Gordon as Hoops No.1.

He put on a career-best display in the Betfred Cup final against Rangers in December - making a number of key saves from point blank range and also the penalty spot.

Forster has made no secret of his desire to eventually make the move permanent this summer before the coronavirus pandemic curtailed the season and changed the landscape of the transfer market.

Although a permanent switch now seems unlikely, the Mail say Celtic are optimistic that they can secure the 32-year-old's services on loan for another year.

Forster appears to have no future on the south coast having made just one appearance over the past two years.

With Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn vying for the No.1 spot under boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, Saints are keen to offload a sizeable percentage of Forster's wages.

He left for Saints for £10m in 2014 but gradually lost his No 1 status through injury and multiple changes of manager.

While a deal for Forster is a top priority, Celtic will look at other options should the situation hit the rocks.

In recent days, the club has been linked with Manchester City's Claudio Bravo.

However, while it looks increasingly possible Forster will be back in a Hoops shirt, the news isn't so positive with regards to Elyounoussi.

The Mail report a loan deal for Mohamed Elyounoussi from Southampton looks less likely, with Hasenhuttl thought to view the £16m signing as worthy of a run in his side

Although I would love both, getting big FF back would be the best signing we could make this window.

    Another loan would be sensible..

Southampton are no gonna be selling their third choice keeper for 10 mill in the current climate..

Getting a good bit off the wage bill with a future fee is understandable from both side's if true..

Mo has been bombed out and been made completely surplus there. He maybe won't be be back here....but he 100% won't be staying at Southampton..

I'm not sure Southampton would want another loan for Forster could be wrong. If reports are true they need cash would rather sell him and get his 70K a week wage gone if loaned out they still pay a good chunk of it

Well they're gonna need to take a big hit then financially as they won't get anywhere near what they think they might..

Didn't realise that. Was merely thinking it wouldn't seem logical if Southampton are looking for cash and slashing wage bill etc to loan him out again. I think we could look at getting him if the price is right. Other teams could also be interested due to his form with us I hope we get him back in just thinking it wouldn't make financial sense for Southampton to loan him out.

I'll take anything, as long as he is in nets for us next season.

Not even arsed about Moi at this point, get FF sorted.

Due to the current climate you will see a reduction in spending across the board tbh

Forster is the only essential signing we must actually buy. I'd settle for him and a loaned CB, unless Ajer leaves. Surely spending on Forster is within our ability?
