He was making plans to move well before that, he sucked us all in but looking back used us to get his career back on track.

Jullien is already on 7 goals after 40 odd games for us, Boyata got 15 for us after over 100 games, we replaced that goal threat very well. Just need him to teach Ajer how to improve his attacking headers.

Yeah we lost one threat and gained another, I would love to get back to the kind of threat from set pieces we had under O’Neill. It was even a running joke how long we had went since scoring from a corner when the rat was manager.

Aye it's something you can see Lennon has worked on since he came in, still a ways to go yet. Suppose the trouble is finding big defenders that are brilliant in the air but can also play with the ball at feet.

Need a new Mjallby or Balde to play beside Jullien, Ajer gets bullied and dragged all over the place too much imo.

To be fair, Jullien gets sucked in by physical strikers as well. He has struggled a few times against a strong centr le forward.

That’s my point about getting in a big physical CB beside him, that would then let him concentrate on playing out from the back which he’s good at.

Sorry mate, I've totally misread your original post. If I had read it correctly, my reply would have been agreeing completely with you. I would sell Ajer and buy a physical centre half also.

Definitely need another big centre back, I like Ajer but he still has a lot to learn, his passing range and driving out from the back is very good for his age though. A back 3 with them 2 plus another experienced big solid no nonesense centre back would be brilliant.

Aye one thing I do like about Ajer is his ability to recognise when he can carry the ball into midfield. He does that very well.

Relatively fresh arrival, too. I wonder why they let him be the captain.

He was more than capable of a costly brain-fart, but I doubt many would say he was a complete dud.

Complete *... now that's a different matter altogether!

Most defenders seem to have brain farts for us. Open Goal made a good point about defenders up here and lapses of concentration.

Maybe because over the years our defence is so used to not having to deal with much having a slight lapse of concentration. We often have 65 to 75% of possession.

Could also conversely be the immense pressure at playing at us. Must win every game, I would feel the heat being on the last line in those circumstances.
