Tony vs Gaethje would be a cracking fight, wanted to see both of them fight McGregor right enough.

It’s * having nothing on but Dana should just give up trying to make fights or only make it for fighters in the same country. Tell Khabib to fight Islam.

UFC haven't given him a location and are asking him to fly to America. I don't see how he can be called a shitebag, I even seen something saying Tony not signing a contract until given a new location.

This is * up circumstances, and considering Ive seen your posts in the coronavirus thread, I'm surprised you think someone not flying across the world with his team/friends/family to the current epicentre of the virus without anything locked in is a shitebag move.

He scurried back to Russia weeks ago knowing full well this was what was going to happen. He trains and lives in California....

I can’t blame Khabib. Avoiding the fight or not, why should he risk his health when everyone else is being told to stay at home. He’s well within his rights.

Exactly. It’s * Tony vs Khabib has been cancelled again but there’s more important things to worry about just now.

He only trains in California 3-4 months of the year, during fight camps.. rest of the year he trains in Dagestan.

California has been in lockdown since late March.. and all gyms including AKA (they attempted to keep it open for a few hours a day, but the police quickly shut that down) , have been closed for nearly 3 weeks. No one blame should the lad for going back to Russia (whilst being told by the UFC that the fight would happen in the Middle East), to actually continue his fight camp in a proper gym.. not some makeshift set-up in a rented property.

I'm not sure I agree with this UFC event going ahead but as a fan I * love it. You've got to admire Dana White as a businessman and sport ambassador. Sensational job he's done to get this show on the road.

Probably the only promotion and only sport that could get this done. Agree with you, mixed feelings. As long as the fighters are safe.

He was in a fight camp as he was supposed to be fighting. He owns a bespoke built house in San Jose.

Vince McMahon and Dana White - no coincidence their best mate is the President of the USA.

Was always going to be the case, surely everyone was aware that?

It’s weird following the UFC sometimes. Every sport has an element of showmanship and business, but I think MMA (in the form of the UFC) has more than most. I’m genuinely not sure if Dana actually believed this would happen or it was a way of keeping the company in the press. If it was the former, then it seems like a pretty naive move.

How so? If ESPN hadn’t told him to stand down the fights were primed as was the location?

There’s a precedent still running twice sometimes 3 times weekly which in real terms is no different whatsoever from a virus spreading social distancing POV, in fact given there are multiple sweaty men all over one another in that it’s worse - WWE.
