Appointed assistant to Stephen Kenny, job share initially but hopefully we don't lose him

Glad he is staying as I believe he was instrumental in our direct and quick touch play.

Hope he stays with us long term, the changes to the backroom staff seem to have made a great positive effect on the playing staff - even for relative newbies to the field.

Also assumed our plan after Rodgers is to be creating a Celtic backroom staff rather than allowing a forever changing staff when new managers come in and out.

Could work out well for us tbh, particularly if the rumours about some of the Irish boys being targets is true.

Delighted that his role with the national team will not take him away from Celtic as I think he has been an important part of our success the past year. I think your right though this may actually help us with some player recruitment. It cannot be just a coincidence that since Duff was appointed to the coaching staff at Celtic we have gone and signed a bunch of players from the Ireland team that reached the semi-finals of last season European U19 Championships. Lee O Connor, Luca Connell, Jonathan Afolabi were signed and Barry Coffey was already at Celtic. Armstrong Okoflex I cannot remember if he was already at Celtic as well before Duff. But either way the contacts Duff has and the promising pool of emerging Irish talent we can now likely have access to could be great for us on top of everything I hear about him as a coach which is very positive.

If he goes then I wish him the best of luck. He has ambitions higher than being a coach, John Kennedy won't leave us anytime soon so he won't be our assistant

Surely wouldn’t have to leave to be able to do a national team coaching role

Was a bit gutted when I read it last night because it sounded as if he was leaving but delighted to hear he is staying.

Seems really popular with the players and he was obviously a great player himself so it can only be a good thing for the club. He is a great role model for the youngsters coming through.

Don’t know the ins and outs but Maloney got hired as assistant manager so I guess he would have a lot more work to do than a coach would

Not right away but there is some legit talent in the Irish underage teams all the way up to the U21's at the moment.

That was probably down to getting to work with players like Hazard and de Bruyne which I can understand.

Would imagine as a coach Duff will be more than capable of doing both roles if he chooses to.
