Think he’s been trying to catch it the longer the season has went on, that will be Stevie Woods, he’s more old school. While teams in the Premiership want everything punched out all day long.

It's never been his strong point. Not even in his first spell. So I'm not arsed.

I actually think hes better punching it. And that last night was a perfect opportunity to do so and hes opted not to.

Just read on Celtic by numbers that Forster is probably the first player to sign for us 4 times. Aye I’ve been stuck in for 3 weeks now and losing what sanity I had left

A match winning goal keeper is hard to come by. He’s one of them... right up there with the main man boruc himself

Weird how this season is panning out, should we play the league out, his loan might be over like the other loan guys, and Gordon would be a free?

Hopefully there's some sort of extension to contracts for this.

How I hope your right on both counts. Edouard certainly is worthy of donning the number 7 top in hoops. What a great sight that would be to see next season.

Southampton are set to cash in on some of their fringe players this summer which could open the door for Celtic to land Fraser Forster for a knockdown fee, Football Insider understands.

The Saints announced last week they had become the first Premier League club to defer part of their wages because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A Southampton source has told Football Insider that internal discussions have taken place among club chiefs about a need for far cashing in on some stars due to the changed economics in football.

Forster, 32, is among those who was not in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s plans but had seen his valuation soar before the suspension last month.

The goalkeeper has reignited his career during his second spell at Parkhead after being frozen out for 18 months at the Saints.

A permanent move to Celtic had appeared unlikely as his Saints contract is worth £70,000-a-week and runs until 2022.

But transfer fees are set to crash and cash-strapped clubs likely to let players go for significantly reduced fees as they look to stem losses.

That could allow Celtic to make a bargain move for Forster even if his current salary is way outside of their range.

He is unlikely to want to stay at St Mary’s Stadium unless he is the number one, a position that had been held held by Alex McCarthy, 30, while the club have high hopes for Angus Gunn, 23.

Forster has made 39 appearances for the Hoops since his return, keeping 17 clean sheets and conceding just 28 goals.

His grip on the number one jersey had been iron-tight despite the return to fitness of Scott Bain, and the presence of triple treble winner Craig Gordon.
