Sponsors won't allow it, they want all the big teams in it plus * teams from big countries.

True but if we were to continue and a player contracted it and either died, I know that is extremely unlikely, or passed ot to a family member who died then it would be negligence on the part of the SPFL. I know this is very unlikely though

England's deputy chief medical officer Dr Jenny Harries said on Tuesday that cancelling big outdoor events such as football matches would not necessarily be a decision supported by science.

"The virus will not survive very long outside," she said. "Many outdoor events, particularly, are relatively safe."

I don't think they wanted to postpone either of Rangers home matches. If Celtic had 2 home matches I think it would be the same. Too scared to upset the big clubs and their fans

Or it could mean we end up playing through the summer and be ready for the first round of the CL without those stupid friendlies.
This is not going to be over in 2 or 3 weeks, this shut down in scotland is before england in terms of time scale due to where the virus is,we have acted early and my be shut down for longer.

Only through luck though, that no player in scotland has tested positive yet. I dont trust the SPFL to make proactive decisions by themselves but at least they have followed suit

They’ve been proactive though and haven’t followed suit with regards to the EPL.

The EPL were still making games go ahead while players and staff were showing susmptoms and waiting on test results.

No fan of the SPFL/SFA but they’ve stopped it all when even the government were okaying games for this weekend.

Had to be done, wouldn't be surprised if there is no football next season and thats when this season will be finished.

Or at least there will be no European football next season I don't think, theres no way European qualifiers can start in early July so European football next season probably won't go ahead.

Wouldn't class top level football as an outdoor event though. Think of the * at half time, the food bar, the seats themselves. Everyone is crammed in to a small space for 2 hours. Then you've got the pubs, buses and trains that fans all fill up. I can see why they cancelled it tbh.

It's not as if football is a totally outdoor event though, people meet up with pals and family at the game, thousands are inside eating and smoking and talking to each other, standing in queues for food with people squeezing past, letting people walk past them in a row rubbing together, toilets are mobbed, people travel in cars and buses with each other, go to pubs before or after.

    Thousands mixing every few days.

I can see why Sunday is cancelled but struggling to see why all grassroots football is cancelled.
This goes completely against the government advice from yesterday.
Events all over the place being cancelled unnecessarily if you go by what NS and Bojo said.
I thought the whole point of this was to delay the peak so going into complete lockdown is just wrong.

Aye the grassroots being cancelled is a bit hasty, I think.

My season is just starting as well. Pish timing.

The experts are all telling us that it will make a negligible difference and both the FM and the PM have reiterated that on numerous occasions now.

Football games aren’t being suspended for any scientific reasoning about the spread of the virus.

They should be playing the games behind closed doors.

Interesting framing of these issues. Do you consume a lot of mainstream media or spend a lot of time with people who do so?

At any rate, even from a purely Celtic point of view, if enough Scottish clubs go under, it will not benefit us in the long run. Quite the opposite.

    With one obvious exception.
