    It’s pretty clear to me that we’ve chose to wait until the last day and hope that ‘deals’ would arise from somewhere with clubs trying to offload players from wage bill. Atsu screams that!

    Not indicative of a forward thinking, clear recruitment strategy.

    We managed to pull it out of the bag in the summer but it’s looking more and more like that was good fortune than anything else.

    Celtic are working on a couple of potential deals but won’t be disappointed if they don’t bring anyone in before the window closes.

    They had agreed a loan deal with Newcastle United to bring their winger Christian Atsu in on loan but the player decided against the move.

    A winger is their priority but having spent £6.5m already this window and £22m over the course of the last two windows, they feel they have a strong squad with which to conclude the season.

    That’s why we employ various scouts and a Head of Recruitment...

    So we can identify suitable targets and then go after them.

    This window just highlights that Nicky Hammond and the board still have a huge job on their hands in terms of improving our recruitment strategy.

    The manager's brief was pretty clear - experienced, winners mentality etc. With £40 million in the bank and chasing silverware on all fronts including a solid chance of getting to latter stages of EL, a club of our size and stature should be attracting a very good calibre of player.

    Klimala and Soro could be brilliant, but it's a gamble. Will they even get a decent amount of game time? Probably not.
