    Doesn't look a day over 89.

'Mississippi Burning' is an all time classic - he was good in that Will Smith one as well (Enemy of The State).

I forgot all about Superman....*'s class man.

    Happy Birthday, Mr Hackman.

Incredibly versatile actor, who could turn his hand to action, drama & comedy. Among his best works - French Connection, The Conversation, Mississippi Burning, Poseidon Adventure, Unforgiven, Get Shorty & The Royal Tanenbaums.

And yet even as part of ensembles and supporting roles, where his work sometimes might be overlooked because he was playing the proverbial (and even literal) straight man for the likes of Nathan Lane & Robin Williams in The Birdcage or Dan Ackroyd & Dom DeLuise in Loose Cannons (have always had a soft spot for even though it's far from a classic). And then there are the roles in gems such as Absolute Power, Runaway Jury, Bonnie & Clyde, Superman I & II, even A Bridge Too Far (even with his dodgy accent, lol).

    He was good in Dallas.

Loved the storyline where he got shot.

Oh, and speaking of, for those old enough, did anyone ever try to prove/disprove the Caine/Hackman theory here?

I remember learning of it through a film called PCU in the mid-90's and sometimes when I was bored (and had a TV), I would test it out, and remarkably was usually able to find one or the other. The theory goes, that any time of the day or night you could find a Gene Hackman or Michael Caine movie on TV, lol.

Old Hackers. The Hackmeister. Heckle. Heckster. Hecko. * Heck. Happy Birthday. Always looked like a tough nut in his younger days. Obviously the roles he played would influence that thought but he did have that look.
