Messi looks to be carrying a bit of weight imo, and I don’t mean the rest of his team mates.

Barca beaten by VAR. Those decisions bolstered Atletico and Barca felt sorry for themselves.

Sad sight to see how far they’ve regressed now TBH.

Would love them to bring in a quality manager and give Messi the last few trophy laden years he deserves.

He admitted nothing but did not deny anything either - I think he is coming.

For the record, I think I would've preferred some European coaching experience first but Valverde cannot continue & Xavi is a dream most cules have contemplated since his retirement

I am conflicted considering the * Xavi would likely play in Bartomeu's power struggle at the club with the coming elections but based on above, I think he is coming to take over for Valverde in the coming days and I just do not want to see Valverde at my club for another minute. It's earlier than I would've preferred but I have imagined the day Xavi would one day be returning as coach since his retirement - there are no guarantees on him being a success but I have no doubt he has all the qualities a cule craves in their ideal coach

Welcome back legend, I look forward to what he can manage to do with this squad - hopefully there's been a convo with Pep and he has advised him to shift the deadweight

    Massive gamble IMO.

If I were Barca or indeed if I were Messi, I’d be going * for leather for Pep’s return. Do or pay whatever it will take. They are the perfect match made in heaven.

It's a gamble, no question but same was said when Pep took over in '08. The latter is not likely to return & certainly not under the current board

For every Pep there’s 10 John Barnes’.

Heard the same hypothetical link with Arteta, who also may work out, but Pep is a one off regardless.

Where there’s a will there’s a way as far as him returning goes - it’s his club, that probably means more than most would have you believe. If they were to put in the call and prepare the offer in the appropriate way I don’t doubt for a second that he’ll have a proper decision to make.

I'd go Xavi if Pep couldn't be tempted back.

Dont think it's as much of a risk as it would of been a few years back, La Liga is in a big transition period, the big 2/3 need something different.

Hope they get it right and build something that lets Messi flourish into his late years. Barca need to invest and help him finish off the way he deserves to.

No question, there are no guarantees with Xavi, except that he will not betray the ethos & playing style of the club nor lack courage in the personality of the team - most cules covet this above all else & it has been missing

It's the political entorno of the club with Bartomeu trying to ensure he can consolidate power & Xavi having previously aligned with a future candidate in Victor Font since the latest suggests Xavi is asking for more time & decision made on Valverde first

    Suarez out for 4 months.

Barca really ought to buy a new striker now, but do they stick with Valverde and trust him with a big money signing? Or switch it up completely with Xavi now?

Xavi is one of my favourite players ever. We don’t have players/people like him in the game anymore. A legend in every sense of the word.

I reckon he’d be a massive success at Barca as manager. The way he read the football pitch is like no other human in history imo.

Setien front runner. Massive head scratcher for me, no matter what hipsters will try and tell you. 61 year old with zero managerial honours.

Even Poch, who said he’d never manage Barca, would be a better option.
