I'm happy we've extended his contract. A really good goalie when he's on form.

Delighted he's signed, will be quality back up for Forster when he's here and if he can recapture the form he showed last season could stake a claim to become number 1.

Some of them questions were disrespectful as * tbh.

Just wonder what the back up plan is if we don't get big FF for next season?
Will Bain get another shot, is he good enough?
For me, Bain is a decent keeper but too small. He is a Scottish international who has done reasonably well in the past. But it is clear to all the difference between a keeper like Bain and Big Fraser-I reckon points per season say around 7 to 9. But the major difference is European and cup games-if we had FF earlier, we would have qualified for CL.
Would we have won the LC with Bain in goal-doubt it.
The only keeper in Scotland that may step up is Lewis at Sheep. Worth considering??
Would be comfortable with Bain as our No 2 but just reckon its such a vital position, an upgrade is required.
Guess it all will come down to getting FF.

Bain is ok to sit on the bench and come in if required, but if we are not going to get Forster, then we need to be buying a first choice to replace him.

Nice guy, good backup but we would have finished last on our Europa League group with him instead of Forster. Will do the job domestically but there is no way we can achieve anything in Europe if so

Also would have lost our chance at the historic QAUDTREBLE!! That's just delayed right now.

We should do whatever we can to sign Forster. Another goalkeeper like him will be hard to find, if found, could cost more, and if we bring him, he might just not fit in here the way forster did.

IN a little over three weeks’ time, Celtic will kick off the new season and the bid for 10-in-a-row. But regardless of what is at stake, Scott Bain knows that he and his team-mates can thrive under such circumstances.

The Celtic squad are heading out to France today after a week working at Loughborough University, with three games against Nice, Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain lined up as part of the preparations ahead of the Scottish Premiership season starting next month.

“The players have shown that they’re more than capable of handling any pressure that gets put on them,” said Bain in an exclusive interview with the official Celtic website. “For us as a squad, we don’t read into what’s anyone else is saying. We just know that, if we do the job we set out to do, and do it to our full ability, then we can come away with three points.

“It might sound like a cliché but it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We always focus fully on one game at a time, and, if we can play the way we’re capable of, we can ignore the outside noise.”

The 28-year-old stopper said the team’s focus is fully concentrated on preparing for the season ahead and ensuring they find their peak form as quickly as possible.

“The boys are really chomping at the bit to get back into it, given the way last season ended,” said Bain. “Right now we’re all really focused on getting back into it and excited to get on the pitch and start the season off as well as we possibly can.

“We’ve been back for a few weeks now and it already feels back to normal, as if we’ve never been away. Everyone’s been really excited to be back and that’s made for a great atmosphere every day.

"Even just getting out the house every day for several hours and having that routine back is something we all really appreciate.”

Over the course of a full domestic season I would be happy with Bain as number 1. But for the high pressure cup finals and European ties he just doesn’t seem to have that added bit of quality or confidence where he’ll be expected to save everything when we’re playing * or under pressure. Think we definitely need Forster if we’re wanting to do well in Europe and both cups this year

for me this year it’s Forster or no one. Would rather see us go with Bain as number 1 and give hazard a chance, maybe bring in Marshall or someone else of experience. Don’t think this is the year for going for a keeper or player who doesn’t fully get the importance of this season.

I actually have no problem with Bain. His distribution is always very quick. I know I'll likely get shot down but he is better than the big man in that regard. No question though Forster is the preferred no 1 choice but if it doesn't happen it's not like we are going into the qualifiers with a diddy.
