    Not really, he lost 8 out of 29 games.

    Since Lennon came back he's lost 3 out of 37 games. At the rate Barnes lost games, it would be the equivalent of Lennon losing 10 games since he came back.

    People forget that Barnes started off quite well, dished out some absolute pumpings, then fell off a cliff.

    Viduka and Henrik was a frightening partnership.. Barnes didn't recover from that.

    Think that was the perfect example of a boost from his reputation , but when the going got tough he couldn't fix it on the park and probs lost the dressing room , maybe Larsson not getting that horric injury could have extended his stay a while longer , feel it wasnt meant to be though .

    NL: It was a difficult game, difficult opponents and difficult circumstances off the back of the intensity of the last few games. The response after half-time was fantastic and my only gripe is we didn't win the game by more."

    NL: "It was a good performance in the midst of a very heavy schedule of games.

    NL: “James was brilliant. He's priceless to me. His all round game was exceptional. That’s ten goals and quarter of the season in. An amazing return for a wide player.”

    NL on #Forrest2023: “To have him secure now is very pleasing. That will settle him and hopefully continue his consistency which is very high.”

    NL on
    @ScottBrown8
    : “He tweaked his thigh. He came off straight away. We will assess him tomorrow but we didn't want to take any chances. We'll see how he is overnight.

    NL on
    @GregGregtaylor
    : “Good debut. Solid. What you'd expect from Greg. He can be delighted and you have to remember that was his first game in a long time so important to get minutes.

    NL: “Bayo may require surgery, he’s seeing a specialist so if he does need surgery we are looking at maybe six weeks.
    @Leighgriff09
    is back training tomorrow but we’ll have to wait and see his condition.

    To he honest I was kidding on about Barnes, he was dreadful, set us back years that MoN spectacularly fixed in months. You are right, the start was quite unreal for goals. When we won we won very well, guess it's not surprising to see his win % so high. I kinda like him these days as a tough love pundit but * me he hasn't a clue about managing. Anyways, enough on him this Lennys thread.

    NL: "We are looking forward to it. It’s part of the domestic trophy haul that we’ve kept a hold of and the players are highly motivated to keep the trophy."

    NL: “It’s been an amazing time at the club for the players. There’s a real pride in what they’re doing and we want to protect the record.”

    NL: “I’m pleased with the style of play and results. I’m proud of the preparation and application the players have shown, the bravery as well. I couldn’t be happier with what I’m seeing at the moment.”

    NL: “We’ve given this our full preparation as much as we can since Wednesday. The squad’s ready and we are looking forward to the game.”

    NL: “The guys aren’t complacent. We don’t take anything for granted. Hibs are the main obstacle and our mindset is good. The way we are playing at the minute, it’ll take a good team to stop us.”

    NL on #Bain2023: “I’m delighted Scott’s signed long-term. He’s thoroughly merited a new contract and he has the best years in front of him. I’m delighted it’s with us.”

    NL: “Bayo’s seeing a specialist on Monday so we’ll know then if he requires surgery or not. Griffiths’ back now training so he’s not far away.

    NL: “Brown's struggling. He was out this morning so we’ll assess him tomorrow. Too early to say but he’s doubtful. Mikey was back training so he may come in to contention.”

    Just shows how statistics have to be treated carefully. We would kill to have players of the quality Barnes had nowadays. At one point, we had a spine of Mjällby, Lambert and Petrov and a front 4 of Larsson, Lubo. Viduka and Berkovic. I may get pelters for this opinion, but I genuinely think that's a better front 4 than MON had. *

    People shouldn't kid themselves about Berkovic either: he was a * good player.

    Tactically, Barnes was very like Ronny. Not in the specifics, he favoured a 4222 like the classic Brazilian teams; rather in the sense that he only knew one way to play and didn't really have a clue about a plan B or how to adjust tactically. However he lacked Ronny's excellence as a coach and ability to spot good players at an affordable price. Remember Scheidt?

    He simply wasn't a manager.

    * At least when the going was good. Viduka was a more gifted player than Sutton and if the game were only about ability, I'd definitely take Berkovic over Hartson (albeit that they were very different players); but when the going gets tough, which is where titles are won and lost, you'd take Sutton and Hartson all day long.

    NL: We were breathtaking today from start to finish, our football and attacking intent. We scored five goals and could've had more. We were absolutely scintillating. I can't speak highly enough of the level of performance.

    NL on

    : “That's the best he's played since he came in. He's getting better & better. He's thriving in the environment. We are making him better and he's making us better. I enjoyed watching him today, his football intelligence was of a high level.”

    NL on
    @ScottBrown8
    : “The fifth goal was brilliant. He's been in outstanding form. We were concerned about him but he came through a fitness test, scored two goals in the semi-final and keeps writing more stories.”

    NL on 30th straight cup-tie win: “It's amazing. Considering anything can happen on any given day. Brendan’s put this mentality in place and we're trying to carry that on. The players don't want to give it up.”

    NL: “Ryan had a little niggle with his knee. The strength and depth is good. We are trying to keep everyone on the boil. The core of the team is consistent and playing very well.”

    : "He tweaked his hamstring so we'll have to assess him and see how he is. He may be a doubt for Thursday now."

    Great chance to deliver his 3rd trophy for us and 1 he hasn't won before , I think he has left a load of people on this forum with egg on their face , he has the team way above expectations of wot many thought possible with him in charge .
    Now consider this , look wot br has done to a side who where looking relegation material , this does prove him as a manager and shuts many up down sath, I dont believe he would have us in any better position than lenny has now .
    Lenny is a smarter man manager than many thought , he chose the wrong club to manage when he left ,but you also feel that some men are born for this club and the glove fits well with lenny .

    Have to say I was worried when he came back. He didn't take long to prove me wrong. We always knew that he could pick a player but I suppose there were question marks over his mental strength in coming back to this kind of environment. In most cases there's some truth in the old saying you should never go back the way......it obviously doesn't apply to him. It's like he's had a few practice runs at being manager and has emerged as being a fairly decent one who may go on to be one of the greats in our history. I'm sure he will if he gets the backing.

    The exception to the rule about never going back the way is going home. I mean that fairly seriously too. Although we tend to talk about coming "home" with far too many former players and managers, in this case it fits.

    Listen it's nice giving Lenny all the praise at the moment and rightly so but let's wait till the end of the season and see where we are as nothing has been won yet and December is a big month ahead .
    I expect to playing the zombies in the final and a league game at the end of December so a big month ahead .
