Our biggest problem right now is a back up striker. If Eddy gets injured we’re in soapy up top.

Bayo is miles away from Eddy’s level and who knows what’s going on with Griffiths.

Agree about right mid as well. Shved is another mystery so far. If he’s still nowhere near the team in January then even a right mid on loan maybe.

Elhamed mostly plays RB. Jozo is recovering from a surgery. Bitton might be needed as cover for midfield, and is a bit fragile like Jozo. Depending on whether Benković would entertain the idea of a comeback, we could contact Leicester.

We've got 5 that can play there, for me it's not needed...

Not looking beyond Jan, I think a proven striker is a must. We are really depending on Eddy staying fit at the moment.

Turnbull is a stick on for me.

    striker is a must also.

Griffiths still toiling and Bayo isn’t looking confident enough yet.

We need a striker as Eddy won't be staying very long.

When we had Dembele we could see Eddy was almost at the level to replace him, I'm just not seeing that in Bayo. It gives me the fear we've been spoilt for strikers recently.

I fear Griff is done aswell but what top class striker is going to come in and play 2nd fiddle to eddy waiting on him leaving?

I don't think we need a right mid/winger. I'd rather see the likes of Dembele get the game time. I even think Frimpong might well end up being used right wing at times with Elhamed at RB if Forrest needs rested.

    1. Retain all regular first teamers.

    2. I'd sign Forster on a permanent deal.

    3. If we can get Benkovic back for cover, great. I don't like the idea of what's behind Ajer and Juillien if both are out. I'd ideally love us to sign Benkovic but that's so unlikely considering the money they spent on him.

    4. Punt Hendry and Morgan. Sell Sinclair and Simunovic. Loan Kouassi. Cancel Arzani's loan.

    5. Bring in a striker and loan Wanyama. Buy and loan out Turnbull (if Ntcham or McGregor leave, keep Turnbull here).

    Piece of pish.

    Agree with the original poster.

Striker and defensive mid are the priorities.

Potentially 2x strikers dependent on how the Griffiths situation materialises and how Bayo progresses.

Brown is integral to the team and I don’t think some people (I’ve been guilty of it too) fully realise how big a void he will leave when he retires. To minimise the impact, we really need to start planning now.

I never thought we needed Turnbull, even if he turns out to be good and it is something that we did on fear of missing out, he going to england and being resold by 10 million.

Thing is after the entire saga would be almost immoral to simply forget about the kid once his knee is working again.

I think it's a very hard window to call.
Players need to be sounded out now privately by the management about their intentions for next summer & we need to be ahead in our planning. Unlike how we were under our last manager and the gimp we had in charge of recruitment.

I’d imagine a striker would be top priority in January personally unless Griff bursts back onto the scene quickly which looks less and less likely as time goes by.

A loan shouldn’t even be an option either because next summer is when the vultures will circling over Eddy and if we’re going into the qualifiers with an untested Bayo and/or a new signing it doesn’t bode well.

I think the window will depend on the status of the league and if we hopefully get through in Europe who we get drawn against. If we found ourselves 9 points clear and drawn against a top team in europe, I'd rather we used the squad. I'd be anxious we don't forget about our young talent, shved, connell, O'Connor , welsh, okoflex, dembele, afolabi, maybe even Coffey etc etc hammonds recruitment has really impressed me and it's exciting to see what he has in store

Striker is the only must, Eddy is off and sadly Griff looks done and Bayo just doesn't look good enough. 1 for now, another in the summer but Afolabi needs to be given a shot in the early cup rounds.
I think cb can wait til the summer. We have 5 players who can play there at a decent level. A midfielder also maybe.

Loan in the best young striker we can find with an agreement to pay between £7m - £10m in the summer or the following summer. That should be our main goal in January.

Dembele and Edouard are the main thing this club has been lacking. It’s a fantastic, highly successful and highly lucrative model for us that we should keep going. We should not be buying £2m punt strikers as our main striker anymore.

    Buy:

    • Stiker, if we can't get Griffiths in regularly.
    • CB, for cover and if we sell one of the current back ups
    • DM/CM for a bit more depth

    Sell:

    • Gordon. Won't happen, but I can dream.
    • Hendry and Simunovic. One not good enough, the other unreliable and a bit of a liability.
    • Eboue, remember him?
