Not really. He left for a better chance to get in his national team.

    Hooper down the pooper???

One of my favourite post-Larsson strikers at Celtic.

Left to try and break into the England team. Don't hold it against him too much, but he left.....so, hey ho.

If he left for money he would have signed for QPR who were offering a lot more of it at the time.

I did like him. He was a great striker for us. But it did kinda put a smile on my face the fact he left strictly for more cash and it all went * up for him. We fished him out the bottom of the Championship and his career took off playing for us.

He then showed us no loyalty and * off and left us strictly for cash.....and it was cash.....if he'd have left for Arsenal, Spurs or a team like that you could understand he wanted to further his career and push for an England call up. Instead he left for Norwich....who were at the time a team of * nobodies bouncing up and down from the Championship, and all they were offering him was more money...nothing else

Good enough for ye Hoops. Bet you wish you'd no left noo eh???

If it was just cash, he would have chose QPR who offered alot more cash. So it wasnt strictly cash.

The fact QPR are/were an absolute basket case of a club at the time probably played a part as well. I doubt they were offering all sorts more than Norwich.

He left for the money 100%, even at his best he would have never have got called up for that mob. His face just didn’t fit with them.

I'm sure it was reported as 10k a week more at the time. Then again, do a puki down there in the EPL and teams start talking about £50m :56: so either way, what a * for leaving.

I spoke to his Dad (Gary Hooper Snr) at work. When I asked if he had any regrets with leaving Celtic, he told me that it is hard to turn down trebling your wages.

To be honest, he left for exactly the same reason everyone does. The idea of progressing your career and making the mega bucks. If Kieran Tierney can do it on the verge of 10IAR then anyone will.

And should have at one point, can remember he was the top English goalscorer in the CL, Rooney was out injured (and somecunt else they usually played)

Forster got a call up at that time, must have been a punch to the gut that.

Bobby Petta syndrome. Hooper always seemed to pick up stupid wee injuries at bad times. Still, my favourite striker since Larsson and would never say a bad word about him.
