I don't disagree it was a bad move for the guy and that he won't get here the playing time he needs. But this tone that somehow he is entitled to something from Celtic, completely ignoring his injury situation and implying there is something hidden behind it, passing this sort of judgment not knowing we have such a complex situation at the left wing that the club's highest earner is not even sitting in the bench, this is kind of behaviour is pathetic. It is typical from folks who started following football 5 years ago and think that any club outside the premier league, spain, psg or bayern is * diddy semi pro club who plays in a pig sty. They manage to be more england centric than the english. * colonized mentality.

At this point, players should wise up that english clubs buy talented young players compulsively, just to let them pile, rot, or loan them indefinitely without much concern for the guy's development and career. If there was any wrong choice here it was going straight from the benches of the Australian Kangaroo Soccerrr League to Man City.

Mark Schwarzer is unfortunately an ill-informed epl fanboy, no doubt if this happened to Arzani at a championship club he wouldn't be questioning his move here. Like you say freitassen, a sense of entitlement from guys like Schwarzer, just because he showed glimpses of talent against Denmark almost a year ago doesn't translate to guaranteed game time at Celtic, coupled with an ACL injury, what does he want Celtic to do? Will probably see him next month when Forrest is getting rested for upcoming Europa League games.

He’s no wrong tbf was a pointless signing at the time and even more pointless keeping him around now, any game time he gets I’d rather see go to shved or dembele

Let’s be honest Mark, Man City didn’t sign him to play football.

We had Johnston as backup and Arzani took till October to get fit enough to play and had never completed 90 minutes.

I don't see much wrong with what Schwarzer said. To me it reads like he is saying Arzani needed lots of game time to progress, but he came to celtic too soon for that as he wasn't ready to be a first team regular for us. At least that's what I take from him saying "The Celtic move is one which I am not sure is the best move for him just yet."

That's how I read it also. I suspect he meant Arzani should've stayed in Australia another year.

The injury has really set him back.. was always going to be tough for him to progress here after that.. a year out injured in a two year contract..

    Shame for the boy.

CELTIC winger Daniel Arzani is set to miss a further month of football later this season after Australia confirmed they want him for an Olympic qualifying tournament in Thailand.

The Manchester City talent is on the way back from injury after damaging ankle ligaments last November in his only appearance so far for the Hoopsin a 5-0 win at Dundee.

He's expected to be an important player once he returns to action, but Celts are likely to be dismayed at Australia's international plans for the 20-year-old.

The Socceroos Olympic caretaker manager Gary van Egmond has revealed he wants to pick Arzani for the AFC Under 23s Finals, which doubles up as Olympic qualifiers.

They take place in Bangkok and will last from January 8-26, meaning the youngster could potentially miss some games before and after the winter break.

Van Egmond said: "It depends where he’s at in terms of his fitness, but if he’s good to go then in this age group he’s very important in terms of where he’s playing and the level he’s at.

"He could have a big bearing on the team and how it progresses from here. We’ll obviously he guided by the medics in terms of where he’s up to to ensure the best outcome for him.

"But all the overseas boys have expressed just how much they want to be involved in the Olympics.”

Australia's Olympic side also have a friendly in Qatar next month and three games against China in November that Arzani could be involved in.

If we think he’s a talent and we can get him at the end of this loan deal we won’t.

He really is a super talent, but as with Rogic there's got to be some sensibility all around. Arzani just loves playing football so he'll want to play any game he can. He needs to be responsible with how he exerts himself coming back from injury - the doctors have to be realistic and the NT have to have the player's best interests going forward - which isn't always to play no matter how tempted they'll be to pick him. Making the Olympics is a big deal for Australian football.

It's always a risk how a player comes back. Fingers crossed for the lad.

Personally, I want him to go and pick up some games. The type of injury he had isn’t just a 9 month and you’re sound. Long road to recovery, if he ever is the same again.

Presumably the gobshite natives are exempt?

Edit: Not the actual natives, who have been pillaged of their land and treated * appallingly.
