CELTIC have been involved in a remarkable FORTY-SEVEN deals worth a staggering £81million in a frantic year.

Neil Lennon has spent over £14m in bringing in fourteen recruits this summer in his squad rebuild.

The Hoops boss has undergone a hectic couple of months in the transfer market as he moved to find successors for the likes of Kieran Tierney, who quit in a record-breaking £25m move to Arsenal, while Mikael Lustig, Dedryck Boyata and Emilio Izaguirre left at the end of their contracts.

In total, thirteen first-team players had to be replaced.

Lennon recognised defence was a priority and his first major signing was the £7m swoop for centre-half Christopher Jullien, from French side Toulouse, in June.

Left-back Boli Bolingoli arrived in a £3m switch from Rapid Vienna in the same month while Republic of Ireland midfielder Luca Connell also joined in a cut-price £350,000 move from Bolton.

A month later Israeli right-back Hatem Abd Elhamed moved to the eight in a row champions in a £1.6m deal from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

Lennon was also looking to the future as he brought in youngsters Tobi Oluwayemi, Leo Hjelde and Liam Burt for the development squad.

Highly-rated Irish kid striker Jonathan Afolabi also signed up after leaving Southampton.

The Northern Irishman returned to the south coast club to negotiate a season-long loan for former Hoops favourite Fraser Forster after Scott Bain’s hand injury left him with only Craig Gordon as his experienced shotstopper.

And it was a hat-trick when Lenny went back to Southampton to arrange another temporary transfer of Moroccan-born Danish international forward Mohamed Elyounoussi.

A couple of days before that signing, Austrian right-back Moritz Bauer arrived on another long-term deal from Stoke City.

And as the midnight deadline loomed, the summer saga concerning Greg Taylor came to a halt when he arrived from Kilmarnock for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £2.2m.

And, with the clock ticking, Lennon fixed up bright teenagers Jeremie Frimpong, from Manchester City, and Manchester United’s Lee O’Connor, both versatile defenders, on four-year contracts.

The beat-the-clock signing of Irish youngster O’Connor just before the window closed took Celtic’s activity in the transfer market to an incredible 28 signings since last summer.

Celtic shattered their transfer record by shelling out £9m to sign loan star Odsonne Edouard from PSG on a permanent deal last summer.

But they recouped most of their money through the sales of Erik Sviatchenko (FC Midtjylland) and Stuart Armstrong (Southampton).

The Scottish champions also raked in a massive £19.8m when Moussa Dembele completed a deadline day move to Lyon.

His transfer fee was eclipsed by Tierney’s move to the Gunners before the Premier League’s signing close-down last month.

In between those two big-money exits, loan stars Filip Benkovic (Leicester City), Jeremy Toljan (Borussia Dortmund), Timothy Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) and Oliver Burke (West Brom) all returned to their parent clubs.

Boyata agreed a switch to Bundesliga mid-table outfit Hertha Berlin, Lustig went to Belgian side Gent, Izaguirre returned to Honduras and Scott Allan rejoined Hibs for a third spell after his pre-contract agreement in January.

Cristian Gamboa moved to German second-tier side VfL Bochum last week and veteran Dutch keeper Dorus De Vries, who was on the bench as back-up to Bain in the run-in to the treble Treble campaign, retired from playing in June and will now concentrate on coaching.

Lennon also scrapped the contracts of two of predecessor Brendan Rodgers’ recruits when Marvin Compper, the £1.2m purchase from RB Leipszig who did not even complete 90 minutes in the top side, and midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, signed as a free agent, were told they did not have a future at Parkhead.

The Irishman will also be able to call on the services of January signings Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Marian Shved in this campaign.

The transfer merry-go-round took its last spin of the summer last night – and then it all kicks off again in January.

He was given a big chunk of the KT money like he was first time around when we sold McGeady. That’s all the fans want the team strengthened and for us to show that we are still the top club in Scotland. Yes it could’ve all went a bit smoother but I’m confident we have got plenty of options and strength in depth.

If that was done by your own hand , then very well done Notorious . Thanks for putting up a thread where you can see a summary of the changes to the squad . I don't buy a newspaper , so this thread is invaluable to me . And no doubt many others .

Absolute rollercoaster of a summer. Had serious doubts about us and convinced myself like many others we had * it. What a turnaround the past week. Don’t think you’d be wrong to say it’s our best transfer window since the MON days.

    Mon the * sellick!

Well that's certainly one way of looking at it. :)

Or, you could say, adding to the £26mil spent...
This leaves our team in a strong position, especially when it comes to using some of that left over ££'s to tighten up and strengthen our existing contracts, come the time.
+ when they big clubs come looking to buy from us, we'll be under no pressure to sell to raise funds,
    'cos we already have them.

    side note...
lol, canny believe these huns spent "awe" their money already.
Dark times ahead for these monkeys again.

Youth signings aren't impactful enough to make the transfer window look great.

How much have we spent on loan fees? Probably a fair bit looking at the names on that list.

The Board asked me to point out that a 50% split would have been 27 mil

half for the team & half for us ......... THAT is not one sided ya wee nyaff

Who did we bring in after Tierney left? Taylor is the only permanent signing of note, is he not?

We should have had a healthy transfer budget this window regardless, given our profits over the previous season(s).

I imagine that we could have bought Bauer and Forster outright without much difficulty, so I hope that we have paid little to nothing for them in terms of loan fees.

I agree it should’ve been done a lot earlier and spent anyway whether KT left or not, but I’m only stating where we are at present compared to the last few weeks.
