Apparently St Johnstone interested in taking him on loan. Might be good to get him out and playing regularly.

Celtic star Tony Ralston has emerged as a loan target for St Johnstone.

Saints are on the lookout for a right-back after Richard Foster’s bust up with boss Tommy Wright saw him shipped out to Ross County.

Ralston hasn’t featured too often for Celts under Neil Lennon and is unlikely to do so after Moritz Bauer joined on loan from Stoke City.

Hatem Abd Elhamed is already first choice right-back at the club after signing from Hapoel Beer Sheva earlier this summer.

Tommy Wright is understood to be keen on Ralston and is ready to make a move for the player.

The St Johnstone boss will have to move quickly, though, with the transfer window to close on Monday night.

Ralston made his Celtic debut against Motherwell back in 2016.

He has previously had a loan spell away from Parkhead at Dundee United.

Nothing wrong with seeing what a full season of playing top flight football week in week out will do before abandoning him completely.

Look at Ajer and Calmac. Not saying he is anywhere near their level but it would be good to see how he develops over a season.

Know what you’re saying mate and Christie aswell but honestly ive spoked to killie fans when ajer they loved him- calmac was a cult hero at notts county and the Aberdeen fans would have loved Christie

There’s a dutd supporters club up my way and I know everyone s got their own opinion- but there’s 5 or 6 boys go to the games that I meet in the boozer and not one of them rated him as any better than what they had and that’s them watching him playing in the championship week in week out

Hopefully he proves me wrong mate but the guys just not good enough to be at Celtic in my opinion

I agree he definitely doesn't seem like he will make it here.

Absolutely no risk in loaning him out for a year to see how he gets on.

Smart money would be on it becoming permanent at the end of the loan though.

I wouldn’t have been bothered about releasing Christie, Calmac and Ajer when they were on the fringes before going out on loan. Could you imagine our side now without those 3? Stuff of nightmares. Let’s give him a season playing regularly at a lower profile club and then see how it looks.

St Johnstone would be a good fit for him.
